Well ftl is game, and if this is going to get free advertisement it should be like it, and if it is, the game will get rewarded for being similar but different.
I do like the gambling that is really a skill game.
Go watch people play ftl and make encounters like the game.
If you do, you can then make accounts on games and ask people to tryout this free ftl game, put all the tags so people on the internet who want ftl and free ftl and games like it can find yours. Go to one of those ten things like websites and do your own games like ftl and put yours. Then, you will eventually have enough people to sadvertise for real.
Fix the problem and i will fix my stars. Four for close and unfleshed out slightly good enough five for good enough with downgrade over time enough to update. Months not weeks.

Could be amazing
I’ve given this game four stars as I can see a lot of work and love has been put into it. I’ve also given the dev a bit of money though in app purchases to support them as in principle this is… almost the game I’ve been dreaming of. I even wrote a Reddit post in r/gameideas awhile back this very concept for an idle game I swear.
So why not 5 stars? Unfortunately, and I suppose this down to personal taste. I kinda hate the art style. The colour scheme, the character models and animations. The outfits are kinda immersion breaking and some of the mechanics don’t make a lot of sense, like quests and missions are pretty much literally the same thing.
There are also a few bugs, were you have to restart the game I order to click on certain crew mates again and UI glitching out. However, this is still I new game (I think?) and the bugs aren’t game breaking so it’s not so bad as I assume the dev will fix this soon.
All in all a great, original idea. Fairly well executed. That will hopefully get updated. The only downside for me personally is that I kinda hate how it looks. Which ultimately I don’t think I can get over. That said I think the game is targeting a much younger audience than me so this is kinda my problem at the end of the day.
