About
IELTS Read is a set of full-length Academic Reading papers you sit under exam conditions and have
marked the moment you finish.
Each paper is three passages and forty questions in sixty minutes, in the formats the real test
uses: paragraph matching, True/False/Not Given, Yes/No/Not Given, multiple choice, summary
completion, table and flow-chart completion, sentence completion and diagram labelling.
WHAT YOU GET BACK
Marking is instant, with a raw score and an estimated band. Then every question is laid out again:
what you wrote, what the answer was, where in the passage it is, and — the part most practice
leaves out — a written explanation of why the question was difficult.
THE TRAP ATLAS
Every question is tagged with the technique used to make it hard. A quantity re-attached to a
different noun. An answer that arrives after its own distractor. A local fact quietly generalised.
There are nineteen of these, and once you have sat a paper the list reorders itself so the ones
costing you marks sit at the top. You stop practising in general and start practising the thing
that is actually going wrong.
BUILT FOR READING
Choose light or dark, five text sizes, and one of five faces including Literata and Source Serif,
both drawn for long-form reading. On iPad the passage and the questions sit side by side. Set a
warning at ten or five minutes remaining, or a pulse to pace yourself against.
Everything works offline. The papers are installed with the app; when new ones are published the
app tells you and downloads them in a few seconds. Nothing you do is uploaded anywhere — your
answers, your scores and your history stay on your device.
Published by the Dhammacakka Foundation Trust. No advertising, no accounts, nothing to buy.

Every passage and question is original material written for this app; no Cambridge paper is
reproduced.
