Ambient Light Issues

Ambient light is permanently stuck on after the last update. Binding and unbinding hasn’t helped.

Today’s release broke the app - MQTT problem

Today’s release broke the ability to control the ambient lighting - have to unplug to turn it off now. Tried all the tricks suggested. Error says “iCharguard MQTT topic is
unavailable. Please refresh device information”

Lite not Pro

The older Non-Pro iFramix has more features, like slowing the slideshow down and dimming it at a certain time.

It has been dumbed down and the old one won't let me upload new photos there, or I'd keep using that. Why'd you take away features? I can at least connect to the charguard on this version and change the led lights. Couldn't do those before, so it wouldn't charge. It's like both of the apps do part of their promised features.

It also only lets me upload 9 at a time and usually a couple of them fail and said they're bigger than 15 MB (they aren't at only about 5MB, but assume it's converting images on the fly and those conversions aren't very efficient).

Please fix all the issues and add the calendar feature as promised. No one wants a giant flip clock. That should just be removed.

Disappointed

Bought the frames off kickstarter. They are good enough. But the app is so bad. I worry about the security. It sucks you have to download it on the old device.
App shows password on sign up screen. Password managers do not recognize any of the fields.
Could have and should have been just a simple, secure web app. Can’t manage photos or anything useful from my current phone. And this is all on day one. I don’t know if it’s even stable. I could vibe code a better version in 24 hours.
I can’t recommend it. The setup was way more complicated than it had to be.

Cannot Create Login

App asks for verification code and no captcha is given in order to enter one in the field.

POS DO NOT BUY

Absolute garbage app makes this a worthless POS .
DO NOT BUY

ALWAYS FULL BRIGHTNESS

The flip clock always goes into full brightness regardless of the settings. And the power saving mode dims the screen way too dark that you can’t even read the time in a dark room. Without the ability to adjust screen brightness, the app is very harmful to an old iPad and becomes useless. PLEASE PLEASE put the brightness control back into the app.

Could be really good

This idea has a lot of promise. The price is high enough that the app portion should be way better than it is. The frame is actually quite good and holds my older iPad in place well. Unfortunately the app is very poorly implemented. No instructions on how to use the individual apps (cal, weather, photos, etc.) were send with the frame. The photos app on my phone to display/upload the photos to the display is extremely poorly implemented and doesn’t allow me to sort through my 1000’s of photos using the Apple structure (albums, date, etc.) which makes it extremely cumbersome to find and load the photos I want. Also, once uploaded the app can’t delete a photo. You’re forced to delete from the iPads directly. Anyway, would love to see some updates that make the experience much better.

New update is working

With the new update, calendar is working on my iPad Air, could be better, I am sure that they will figure it out with more updates.

Can't even make an account

I can't even get to the point where everyone else is complaining about the app. I don't see a button to get a code when creating an account from the app. Whatever update happened between their review and mine probably broke the registration process.

Garbage

I got this on kickstarter and it’s garbage. None of the features work, won’t pair with any device so I can basically only use it as a clock. The clock makes a horrible grinding sound that you can’t turn off (supposed to sound like an old timey flip clock). Avoid this garbage. I was hoping for a weather station on my office desk and maybe pair with my calendar and instead got nothing. Would rather just put my old iPad back in a drawer.

Missing features lots of bugs

The promised features still have not been delivered. Many many many bugs and typos.
For examples the weather app often has text that is too long so it’s illegible. Today the clock app tells me it’s the 1th of December.

Overall very disappointed, would have been better throwing my old iPad in the garbage.

Has potential

I agree with the other review- if you were lucky enough to get the frame on Kickstarter, congrats. It’s super well done and has changed my old iPad 3 from a doorstop to a beautiful display device. However, I didn’t just want a pretty clock. I was hoping for a central place to display family calendars, check in on weather, etc. The calendar function has not yet materialized and that is unfortunate. The app is somewhat clunky but my biggest concern is that it hasn’t been updated since I got my frame. I hope I am wrong and we get the functionality we were promised. If not, I guess we have a beautiful clock.

Unable to bind iPad. The button is just missing.

Unusable.

Crashes and reverts to menu too frequently

The frame hardware is top quality, but the app to support it needs a lot of improvement. The slideshow feature has no option for shuffling, so it always shows the photos in the same order. Not a problem except that you have to manually restart the slideshow multiple times a day. No matter if you select the slideshow, screen saver, or weather view, the app will revert to the main menu after several minutes. That’s assuming the app doesn’t simply crash to the Home Screen instead.

Any photos sent to the device in portrait orientation are zoomed in so faces are often cropped out. Instead, the option to show the entire image on a black background should be added.

If the stability is fixed and the photo slideshow experience is improved, it’s a solid purchase and a great way to extend the life of an old iPad. But as it stands, you’re better off purchasing a cheaper digital photo frame that just works.
