Deprecated/abandonware?
Got an iBT28 at the thrift store for $4, sans power cord. Takes a standard DC adaptor though and anyone that doesn’t have ten of those floating around must’ve just been thawed out of the melting permafrost and to you I send a warm welcome and sincere apologies for all you will discover.
All in all, I got a pretty new alarm clock that picks up the only radio station i care about, and that was worth the money. My phone does pair to the bluetooth, but honestly I have real Sony speakers so I see no reason to play music out of a tinny plastic box.
So my old alarm clock has been replaced. I’m not huge on such petty modern gadgetry that screams consumption, so I have no idea what this old model might have cost in the past, but I reckon a newer equivalent with pretty lights and all might fetch something like $20-40 through Amazon or TJ Maxx. $4 is my upper limit for wasteful excess, but I can see why there is a market for them.
Banter over, bottom line is so far I like the iHome product itself (remains to be seen if it will actually rouse me come alarm time), but I can’t give more than the minimum on this particular app because, as many below have expressed, it does not work. The app home screen either has the perpetually spinning waiting circle trying to connect, or if I disconnect/reconnect bluetooth the app responds by saying there is no device. Which show the app knows something is there, it just will not pick up on it.
By most standards I believe that would qualify this app as abandonware, and therefore it should be removed from the store until such time as the developer chooses to update it and provide support. I know my model is like a decade old, but others with the same issue all have other various models which also are not recognized.
Normally I would care at all about not having what is essentially a remote control on my phone for features I can manually use with the buttons an arm’s reach away, because I am not that flavor of astoundingly lazy. In fact, the value of time I’ve spent typing this has already exceeded what I spent on the product manyfold. My concern, however, is that in order to discover the app does not work, I first had to download it and agree to questionable terms - terms which, if in fact this has not been updated for four years as stated, do not reflect recent legislation in regards to privacy. I did not make an account, and I *think* deleting the app immediately after means I shouldn’t encounter any issues, but considering how absurdly evil and borderline comic-book-villain so many companies are these days, that “agree” box makes me sweat just looking at it. So I wanted to lay down a little diatribe and maybe someone will see all the people pointing out this obsolescence and choose not to even download it in the first place. If my writing this helps in any increment prevent someone else from wasting time and frustration, then that alone has been worth my time.

Can’t Find Device
I’ve turned my iBT158v2 off and on, disconnected it from my phone (completely) and then reconnected it, closed the app and reopened, deleted the app and redownloaded, i’ve even turned my phone completely off and back on again, but everytime, the app says it can’g find my device and i don’t know why. It’s always right there next to my phone while it connects.

Can’t connect
I’m tech savvy but cannot get this app to connect to the Ihome iBT155. It’s show connected on the Bluetooth but when app searches it says none found.
Note To Developer
Your app doesn’t work, and based on the age of the bad reviews, it hasn’t worked for a long time. The device doesn’t work as advertised, so I am returning it. Affecting your bottom line is apparently to only way to encourage you to fix the app.
Firmware update failure
Can’t use the app to pair with the speaker. Requires a firmware update that fails every time. Speaker is going back. IHome is not ready for prime time - avoid.

Firmwhere updates don’t work
I got an ihome iBT261 speaker and download this app to set up Alexa and it would not update my firmwhere at all. Very frustrating

It saids I have to update the firmware and it should take 15 mins. Well I did it all night and it didn’t work!!

Worked fine for me
This app did what it was supposed to do. Connect my speaker to the Alexa feature. It did just that. It took about a minute to finish.
I’m not sure how to get this to work
I’ve had this awhile and I still can’t get it to work but I’m stuck with it because I can’t return it the store went out of business
Doesn’t work
I tried the app and did every step correctly but it couldn’t detect my iHome AVS16! How come iHome hasn’t released a firmware update in almost a year for their newest product?!!
