Bad

Missing Most modal scales Ionian Dorian Myxolidian etc. Money back!

Not even remotely worth the money...

Not a bad interface but extremely limited information for Β£2.99. You could get this info for free from the Internet and use the iRealB app as a play along mechanism. Unfortunately very disappointed :(

Bought nearly all of them

Bugs. Would be a great tool, but the Jam-a-longs don't always play in the key you select. And some of the modal practice pages don't even have a play button.

If you fix this in an update I'll give you five stars.

Fantastic learning tool

Excellent and PRACTICAL knowledge! This has totally helped de-mystify some of the questions I've had about how to approach playing in and outside of key tastefully. Thank you!!!

Horrible app read below before wasting your money

This app is horrible, the information it gives you is barely anything there are only 4 songs to improvise over and it poses questions they are going to answer in another app which you will no doubt need to pay for. Save your money there are much better apps out there.

Unique Jazz Experience

Well designed basic jazz improv tutorial with classic piano bass and drum backing. Interesting blend of theory instruction ear training and jamming.

Worth the price if an intro to jazz improvisation is desired. Leaves me yearning for updates. More screen interaction with note and chord changes and midi file output of backup tracks would be excellent editions.

Don't expect a basic onscreen keyboard with the app as it stands but that addition with the next update if it ever is released would make it five star

Very impressive

This app has more bang for your buck than the low price suggests. After getting through the intro and listening closely to Miles Davis "so what", every scale and except side can to life with the jam-a-longs....

My only (minor) complaint is the younger generation user "small" font that only kids can see.....lol
(iPad for me next)
Hopefully they can do a small EQ to take out bass to just hear piano, no drums, etc....

Scales are fun!!!

What an amazing app! I really like how it makes focusing on a particular component of improvisation fun and accessible. The price is right, too.

Well done!

After searching the app store for hours, i came across this gem. There's nothing else like it. This app maker gives practical and easy to follow lessons. Well worth the price. I bought everyone of his apps. Bravo!

Very little content and exercises not worth the money

Not good too simple, basic theory. Not worth the money.

Thin content and instruction

This app has the framework to be useful, but it lacks sufficient content, references, and musical examples to be useful - particularly at its price point. Please flesh out midi playback examples and line analysis or send back my money. Thnx.

Insult

What an insult to buyers, students and musicians, and for that price!

Modal improv app, listen to the LYDIAN MODE played in any key:
The Augmented Fourth aka #4, is not played but Instead a Natural 4th is - over the chord!!!

So we are expected to EAR PROOFREAD EVERYTHING! Why bother?

Saxman

This App is excellent, I love this Modal playa longs, looking forward to other Genre's

Great!

I love these apps. When will we get some more! They're really useful for practicing. Thanks, developers!

Good stuff!

I play both trumpet and piano, and this app really helps to focus in on the modes, their structures, and how they sound. Even if you come from a music education background as I have, it's nice to have aural examples of modal scales at your fingertips for on-the-fly listening and comparison. Good work!

Great product

Terrific! Both apps are very useful tools for learning and practicing. Better than Aebersold book/CDs. Keep up the good work!

Great!

I've been a musician most of my life but have always been intimidated by Jazz, perhaps because I could not understand it. This app explains the theory very clearly, how chords relate to scales/modes, and the exercises within are well structured. The backing tracks sound great and are fun to play along with. I strongly recommend this app for all musicians!

excellent theory and practice

Like the app for the Minor ii-v progression, this is one of the best apps I have seen for jazz theory and practice. I like how the developer has isolated a useful element in jazz improv, provided clear explanations and examples, and then also provided audio examples and backing tracks. The app provides good practice advice for how to learn and implement the improv skills in the app. This is a serious jazz educational tool created by someone who is obviously a working jazz musician/educator. Highly recommended.

Excellent

Really useful stuff - a complex subject presented concisely. The exercises in the jam along ties everything in nicely.....
