Very disappointed
Lemme start by saying the iLive is the Best digital board I have every used. I love it. This app. Well it leaves a lot to be desired.
1. The user interface is not intuitive at all. This is the worst mixing app I have ever used. Look at the presonus app to see what a digital interface should look like. Especially how it changes when changing orientations.
2. There needs to be a way to save credentials and have the app automatically connect when I open it.
3. The app needs to remember the last view you were in.
4. The app needs to automatically reconnect if the wifi drops. Having to close the app and reopen it and log back in is too time consuming and ridiculous. Networks drop at times, especially wifi. We need to automatically reconnect. If number 2 was done this should be easier.
5. The app lacks the ability to adjust effects. That is just plain dumb. Why can't I walk in an audience and actually adjust what the effects sound like? This is a must have feature.
6. The app lacks the ability to do scene recall. Seriously, a digital board in this range with no scene recall. Note. The surface allows for scene recall. The app does not.
That's all I can think of for now. I really hope AH fixes this.
There are some other areas that the surface could be improved as well. AH please feel free to contact me to give you some real world expectations.

Please update,
Please update this app for iOS 10 because it started losing connection once I upgraded. Also very complicated to use in real situation. Please make it like the one for the QU series.
Very unstable
One of the most unstable console apps ive ever used. Sometime it takes for ever to connect even when your wifi signal is full. It also looses conection a lot. It is not worth 100 doller. Behringers x32 app is free and you can control all aspects of the console even setting. Here you are limited to mixing and channel parameters. Please fix this.

Worked in iOS 8, not in iOS 9
Allen and Heath, please fix this app asap. It crashes when logging in using ios 9. Many people have shelled out the $100 for this app when competing companies provide their more feature rich apps free of charge. Many of us require the use of this app for our livelihoods.

Since I updated the Apple Ipad firmware the mute function on custom 2 won't work and the setup button won't work. Please help with a patch.
It's not worth the money
This app is not worth $99. The problems are centered around it not talking to the iDR unit. Meaning sometimes I still see meter movement on the app when I know there is no signal in the fader (because the console signal meter's aren't moving). The compressor indicator on the input strips blink occasionally, at random, like christmas lights, on any input, regardless of whether you have actually engaged the compressor on that fader or any fader. Sometimes when I go into setup mode and pull another fader down to the custom surface it doesn't update to where the fader position is on the console. I restart the app FREQUENTLY because it is not talking to the iDR unit. When I'm working from the app then go and touch a fader on the console, the fader will snap back to where the fader is on the app. The console and the app do not talk to each other very well. We had version 1.8 and it did NOT do any of this. We also have an ETC ION board and we have their app as well and it works great with the ION console, and we have an AMX controller with their app running some hardware and it runs flawlessly, so I know it's not because of any wifi issues.
This app is nice to eq and set monitor levels and to get a general house mix but that is it.
Besides all of the above, I still for the life of me can't understand why Allen and Heath can't/won't have this app access the libraries that are stored in the iDR.
Save yourself some money, use your laptop and use the iLive editor software that is a free download from their website. You can do EVERYTHING in that. I have mixed a few shows from my mac laptop with it. This app would be ok if it were free or .99 cents. For $99 I expect A LOT more from this app. The idea of mixing a show from your iPad is a lovely thought but not for $99 given it's limiting abilities.

Mcuh more stable
This is much more stable with the recent update. Very useful app for mixing foh, or on-stage monitor duty.
$100 and not usable
This app is not very stable and is not usable as a stand alone. I purchased my iLive mixrack with hopes of controlling it with the app alone and no surface. I mix on my MBP which is not very mobil vs the iPad. The mixrack sounds great but I am strongly considering going back to a Presonus SL2442 because its app is super stable. I would pass on this especially when they are asking $100 for app when all other iPad remote mix apps are free. I paid the $100 and regret it ever since. Being a IT guy during the day trust me when I say I have tried everything and several different routers including A&H recommended ones.

I'm lovin it
So far, I have found this app to be amazing! Allow's wireless live mixing 'almost' flawlessly. There are one or two bugs which I will be reporting to A&H but so far so good. Aboslutely essential if you own an iPad and an iLive system. Standing next to the musician/singer and being able to adjust their level's & in EQ their monitor and hear exactly what they are hearing is a giant leap forward. Very expensive for an app but when you start using it you'll wonder what you did without it. Remember when you got your first mobile phone? Would you get rid of it now? Same goes with this app. It bring's a whole new dimension to live sound mixing. I think I have 'bigged' it up enough now...

Got to be said, it is way over priced but it does the job.
Compared to the Yamaha etc. Apps this does it all and can actually replace a surface.
However we could really do with a cut-down version as well for use with a surface which could be used for ALL members of a band or whatever to perform basic functions themselves.
A lot of engineers would not want the band mucking about but it would be handy to have the option.
If you have a use for a digital audio mixer, iLive is the one to have and you need this App.....

Running the app
This app is great! It's a mixing engineers' dream!
To everyone using the app, if your iPad gets the message "out of memory" it's because you have multiple apps running at one time. (double click your home button and close out all unnecessary apps)
Also, it's suggested that you use a 5 GHz router. This as been tested in an Arena at 600 ft. and it worked perfectly. Other routers will get interference with other wireless signals at the location.

MixPad Almost ?
This app has the potential to be one of the most useful tools developed for live sound events. I took it out last weekend without the iLive surface (only a laptop, mixrack and iPad) to an outdoor drama with lots of wireless body packs. The FOH had to be in a cabin behind the actors inside the fort. I setup the mixrack and laptop in the cabin and took the iPad outside in the audience and mixed where I could actually see and hear the actors. It worked beautifully...at first. The app is amazing as far as control and we had to do very little on the laptop itself. However, about 45 minutes into the first act, the app said "app out of memory" and shut down. It did fire right back up (after rebooting for about three minutes) and worked nearly flawlessly after that.
All in all I think it is a very good and well thought out app that just has a few minor glitches. I hope the developers will fix those in an update soon. I am going to try it again at a large Christian Youth event again this weekend....we'll see how it goes!

Return to main menu
In the next update could you add a return to main menu option so I don't have to reboot my iPad every time something goes wrong.
Good product with some bugs
I run sound for a Church and this works great, however if you lose network connection or if the iPad screen goes off then you have to power cycle the iPad to get it to connect to the iDR again. Once that is fixed it will be a 5 star app.
Crash
Bought the app tonight because as a dealer, install contractor wanted to show another cool feature of the I Live. Well it won't load. Keeps saying app out of memory. I sure hope I can get some help. I hate to think I just blew a 100 bucks!
A game changer
Ok, so it's not cheap - but considering the depth of functionality and quality of engineering here, I think this (in the context of the huge $$$ that digital desks cost) is a bargain & must have for iLive users... and for those who aren't using iLive it's time to compare what A&H are doing compared to your current options!
