Good app with lots of potential

Can only measure frequencies up to 100hz. Would love to see some more advanced frequency counting or use of the slow motion camera to measure higher frequencies. The onboarding process is a bit much, could probably simplify that as using the app is very straight forward.

Response from developer

Hello! Fatigue is affected by pulsations up to 300 Hz and most often light sources pulsate at 100 Hz. This is due to the mains voltage and inexpensive light power supplies. Thank you for your feedback. We are constantly working to improve our product.

Not clear what it does

It outputs a number from 0 to 100. What does it mean? Main frequency? Intensity? Something else?

Response from developer

Hello! The pulsation of the light flux is measured as a percentage (%). 100% when the light source goes out completely and lights up, for example, at a frequency of 100 hertz, the light goes out and lights up 100 times per second. The human eye cannot detect this flicker, but it has a strong effect on fatigue.

Not at all accurate

This is totally off. Seems to be doubling flicker rates or more. Way off.

Response from developer

Hello! The application allows you to measure the ripple coefficient of radiation sources in the visible spectrum. It is important to keep your phone still. Hand tremors greatly affect the measurement results. The application does not turn your device into a professional measuring device, but allows you to determine the degree of pulsation of the light flux, its absence or presence.

It Works!!

Great to see that the light fittings I have always hated are actually flickering (& how much). I would like to take a Live Photo or short video within the app to show to the electrician (& husband!) to make it easier to record the results, with a name for each light fitting. But I can use screen recording as an easy workaround. Overall very happy.

Background information

I like the app but not totally sure what it is telling me. More strobing is bad Iโ€™m sure but more info on what should I be thinking about doing based on the readings Iโ€™m getting?

Response from developer

Hello! These measurements will help you understand how large the ripple (flicker) coefficient is. Anything with a value above 10-15% has a high ripple. The higher the coefficient, the stronger the effect on eye fatigue and the general condition of the body. The data obtained will help to choose lamps without flicker.

Confused

You say the average error percentage could be greater than 10%.
Is there an upper limit?

I am testing a flicker free light bulb and i her a reading of 38%.

Response from developer

Hello! Such errors occur if the phone shakes. The stronger the shaking of the hands, the greater the error. For accurate measurements, eliminate other light sources and hold the phone still.

Finally, one that works

I use this for my work to easily identify LEDโ€™s that are flickering. I can check one hundred LEDโ€™s in under one minute whereas before it took several minutes. A great utility.

Response from developer

Thank you for your feedback.

Great app!

I use this app to tell me if my light bulbs, computer monitors, and TVs are junk or not. This app is easy to use. Most monitors are flicker-free, but most LED lightbulbs are not. I would love it if the developer could provide even more information about this topic. This app is well worth the money. Protect your eyes and health.
