About
iMetalDetect turns your iPhone into a practical magnetic field meter and ferrous metal scanner.
Using the iPhone’s built-in magnetometer, the app measures magnetic field strength in microtesla (µT), displays live X / Y / Z axis readings, and helps you identify nearby magnets, iron, steel, speakers, motors, electronics and other magnetic or ferrous objects.
The app is designed with a clear, professional interface for everyday testing, learning and practical scanning.
Key Features
• Live magnetic field measurement in µT
• X, Y and Z axis magnetic readings
• Total magnetic field strength calculation
• Baseline calibration for your current environment
• Metal Scan Mode for detecting magnetic field disturbance
• Ferrous probability indication
• Signal stability and peak detection
• Guided scanning workflow
• Live chart for magnetic field changes
• Detection history and saved scan results
• Adjustable detection threshold and sensitivity
• Sound and haptic alerts
• Built-in theory, limitations and material detectability guide
• Local settings and activity logs
Metal Detection Explanation
This app uses the iPhone’s built-in magnetometer. It does not actively transmit an electromagnetic field like a professional metal detector. Therefore, it is most effective for detecting magnets, iron, steel and other ferrous or magnetic objects.
It may not reliably detect non-magnetic metals such as gold, silver, copper or aluminium. Detection performance depends on the iPhone model, object size, object distance, surrounding magnetic interference and how the phone is moved during scanning.
Best Uses
• Check magnetic field strength around objects
• Locate magnets, screws, nails, tools or steel parts
• Observe magnetic disturbance from speakers, motors or electronics
• Learn about magnetometer readings and magnetic field theory
• Perform simple ferrous metal scanning with your iPhone
Important Notice
MagField Metal Detector is an educational and practical sensor-based tool. It is not a professional underground metal detector, safety inspection device, electrical testing device or scientific measuring instrument. Results should be used for reference only.
