I used to love this app so much it was hands down the best mtg app. However its like the developer completely quit. The app needs updated to the newest ios. So now its almost completely unusable. It keeps crashing with almost every major function. I have sent in 3 different emails with no response. Do not spend money on this app till the developer fixes these issues. This was my old review ( Ive used this app for a long time but since a just came back to magic i was unaware of the server costs. That being said this is still by far the best app for deck building and card searching. I did notice that there are issues when i use the app on my iphone but on my ipad it works perfectly fine. I have tried using most other deck builder apps but they have pailed in comparison which made me be ok with $1 subscription which with the full unlock equates to two months. So $6 a year for something that does exactly what i need it to is fine with me. I would like to see a fix with the phone usage but thats really my only criticism.)

Now and then a story that ended terribly
So I loved this app when I first started using it. I even payed the 10 dollars to unlock everything and threw in some extra money to the developer to give him a pat on the back as a well deserved good job, however as time has gone by I have noticed a lack of care in the application. I’ve dealt with it as it, but it just got worse and worse. Examples lead to application would crash when I would filter cards or add cards to a deck I was making earlier. The updates were ALWAYS LATE! The last straw was when I e-mailed a complaint about his application stating that his app kept crashing and was doing this for 3 weeks. He responded with, “I blame apple’s update.” And that was it, I emailed him again for a follow up and there was nothing. Are you kidding me? There is no follow up? I strongly urge you NOT TO DOWNLOAD THIS APP. This developer does not care about his consumer base and wants to take advantage of your money.

Replaceable App with a Fragile Developer
This App has some potential, but with the lack of care taken by the own developer it just completely falls flat. It can barely be used in any of its supposed functions.
Disregarding the fact that the app doesn’t work though, the developer Piotr is a fragile person that can’t handle criticism. I haven’t even posted a thing—it’s just something you see in nearly every forum post associated with him. For someone who worships logic he seems to forget that the fundamental basis of making logical arguments is being criticized.
It’s honestly disgusting, I have never seen a more self-absorbed brat than this child. It shows how easily a person can be warped by a little power from a creation. That alone is reason enough to skip this app. Honestly just going to take all of my saved stuff and move to another app because there’s nothing special with this one among many. Others work though. They also have developers that care about their work, and the people that use it.

If not resolved looking for new app
I’ve had this app for quite some time now. It was great! I referred it to all my friends. I honestly think I’ve had it since it came out. It was the best tool I’ve ever had when t came to creating decks. I went as far as purchasing everything. I even used the donate option that stated buy the author a beer. At one point I lost all my purchases and it would not let me restore but I did not let this bother me the app was great. Worth rebuying. Unfortunately this app no longer works on my iPhone. It crashes when I try to do anything. On top of that they turned it into a subscription based app. So even though I bought everything it’s telling me I have pay to play. After reading multiple reviews and doing some research I can see that the developer I once loved who I purchased a beer for has seemed to turn his back on everyone who got him this far. I hope he sees the error in his ways.

It's Sad
This is probably the first and only review I've ever written, but I'm making it for this app because I care about this a lot. It's a fantastic app, and does a lot to help you in designing decks. I used to spend HOURS just looking through the cards, building commander decks, designing combos, collecting cards I might like, etc. it was an invaluable resource in my Magic experience, and it only elevated my fun and great time playing the game. However, after a year or so, I decided to return to the app again and once more delve into the well-made user interface and massive (and constantly updated) card database. Imagine my disappointment when all my purchases were void, and were replaced by a subscription model. It doesn't help that I've also learned from other reviews that the developer is an arrogant jerk who refuses to listen to other people. Honestly, I'd wait for something better to come around further down the road, because this app is now tarnished by a shameless cash-grab model.

Used to be good - Now just iritating
I loved this app until it went subscription based. The issue of updating the database has been a sporadic problem. I have purchased a six-month subscription twice because the app doesn't keep track of the initial purchases.
I have contacted the author who pushes the issue back to apple. I have never had an issue with Apple before on any other of my purchases. After he reluctantly got involved to resolve the issue before it was resolved. However, today it surfaced again and he still pushes for me to contact Apple. So either his program isn't up to par or his business relationship with Apple is not up to snuff. Whatever, the issue is, it shouldn't be his customer. If the cash register is broke, don't ask the customer to resolve your issues.
I'm switching to Deck builder it isn't as robust, but It won't have these issues and I can export/import the database between applications and platforms.

Great app, but a few things...
The app is great, I've been using it for years and absolutely love it. While other people have mentioned "nickel and dime"ing, I haven't had to pay anything since I optionally chose to pay a few bucks for a few various options maybe around 2013. Perhaps I've been grandfathered in?
Anyway, I don't understand why the database is updating ALL the time now. I just hit "Cancel" and move on most of the time, but even when I update, it takes me to a purchase screen and doesn't appear to do anything.
Consider bringing back the "download progress circle" (idk the technical name...) so that I know if it's actually downloading something.
Perhaps stop redirecting us to the purchase page, it's an annoying step when I'm rushing to add a card to my "needed" binder!
Consider weekly database updates or something more condensed than the seemingly sporadic (sometimes four times in one day) updates I currently seem to be facing.

So much potential...
Good database, though the app itself is easily outshone by other apps such as DeckedBuilder and uMagic in terms of ease-of-use (its competition is generally less clumsy) and cost (a full-unlock for uMagic runs about $3 and DB runs $4. iMTG will cost upwards of $7). (Edit: DB's full unlock is closer to $15, but the features are largely unnecessary). Where this app truly differentiates itself is the convenience of a forum attached to it, but even THAT loses to sites like MTGSalvation for a very simple reason: the app creator has NO clue how to run this forum.
He claims to run an open forum, but bans at the drop of a hat, for reasons of his own invention. Do your opinions differ from his in any way, shape or form? Expect to be banned quickly and without warning for "lying." Do you plan to question these practices? Expect similar retribution for the exact same offense. Leave a negative review calling out these flaws that ruin an otherwise decent experience? Expect threats of a ban for the exact same offense. There are better databases and forums out there, with far less volatile individuals at the helm. Don't waste your time with this one.

FANTASTIC APP!!! PLEASE READ!!!
I honestly don't know what the other people are talking about that give it anything lower than a 5. There aren't any serious issues, heck, I don't know if I found ANY issues at all! The life counter goes up to eight, yes EIGHT, players: just swipe sideways. The life counter has customizable buttons, a life swipey-wheel-thing, and has different options for normal, commander/edh, and two-headed giant! There is a FANTASTIC card database including prices for low, medium, high, and foil card conditions, a picture of the card, and re-written wordings in case it doesn't make sense the way it is displayed on the card. The gatherer, collection, and deck builder aren't anything super special, but are very cool to have. Honestly, this is THE BEST mtg app out there. If you don't have it, and are wondering whether you should get it, take my word for it; you won,t regret it.

Great app overall, with a few key issues
Ok I want to start off by saying that if you are looking for an app for magic, this is the one. I have tried other apps, but this one does what those do, and does it better.
The only problem is that when you look something up in the database, it lags like crazy. I think the problem is that it wants to constantly updatd the results for your search with each letter, and when it's going through hundreds of thousands of cards, and getting images for them, it slows down a lot.
I would suggest to the app maker that you at least give the option for the app not to pull up the results until the user hits the 'search' button, which would greatly reduce the lag.
Overall great app, you should download it, just make sure to turn on airplane mode while searching the database.

Disgusted!!!
I purchased this app 3 months ago. Clear up until 10 days ago I recommend this app to all my friends. I have since retracted all such statements and have urged my friends to move on to more reliable apps and programs...
After entering over 8000+ cards and 13+ decks, I open the app to find that not only 400+ cards are gone but I lost 4 different decks also. Now I always back up with Dropbox and iTunes. After trying to restore from both directories I was still missing everything. So I wrote Piotr, outlining everything that had taken place and the different measures I had taken to try and rectify the problem. His response, wait for it, try EVERYTHING that I had already done, maybe that will work??? Not trying to be close minded I sent another email stating that I had done all steps he had outlined prior to emailing him. I get a response back "our databases had a problem but it was resolved over 12 hours ago." Then why are my cards and decks still missing after re-entering the cards and the decks, backing up to Dropbox and iTunes and restarting a week later???!!! I don't have time to sit here and re-enter my collection over and over. Thanks for wasting HOURS of my time!

Awesome app!
This is by far the best MTG app I have seen so far! For its complete offline search and rulings (small and completely worth it extra charge) alone it is completely worth it, but there is so much more! Pricing, complete rules, collection binders, downloadable art, life counters, random card function... This app has everything! A must download!
My only complaint: it could use a better search function, one with multiple input fields perhaps, such as can be found on many online card sites... But this is a minor complaint, it has a filter that will find what you are looking for, it's just a little awkward.
Aside from that this app is amazing! Any MTG enthusiast will love it!

A must have for Magic Players
This app is one of my most used on my phone. First I will acknowledge that there are a few bugs, but nothing too major. The Scan function can be hit or miss, but considering the difficulties with OCR software a programmer can face, I have to rate it superb. The cover flow feature is a nice thing to have when browsing a deck or the card database. I like that you can add cards by their expansion/set, so that it shows the correct printing of the card you own. The Dropbox integration is nice. The only thing missing, in my opinion, is the ability to export a dec file to Dropbox. I have imported decks built with this app into both Cockatice online card table, and the online magic the gathering application on my windows machine and it works perfectly. Highly recommend.

Just amazing
This app is simply amazing. There are only a couple experiences that sully the experience this app provides. One was the scanner. I feel it needs a lot of work, and at this point is not worth using as just typing the card name is far more worth it. Ultimately, this didn't affect my rating of the app since searching the card database is so fast and easy. The thing that mostly stopped me from giving it a 5/5 was that the card database seems to be missing some cards. I'm not sure if this is because of a missed update or not, but while over at my friends building a deck, he was able to find cards on Decked Builder that I couldn't on iMTG. Not sure what happened there, and I'm sorry it dragged down the rating, but that was something I wasn't able to overlook. Everything else is spot on, there just needs to be more explanation of what things do. For example, I spent 20 minutes trying to find the area to enter my collection of cards, only to find out that that is what My Precious is. Still an amazing app, keep it up

Must Have MTG App!!!
This app is an awesome all in one MTG app. I found that there are more accurate prices on the TCG app and this app looks like it includes SCG prices which are always about 20% higher than any other vendor out there. All in all with all the great features it's a steal for being free and I went ahead and paid $10 to unlock everything like multiple decks, offline database and other features. It was well worth it. If only for the sweet life counter part of this app it would be worth downloading for free, but this app has so much more to offer.
My only gripe is that for it to truly complete an all in one MTG app it needs a sealed and draft options. OMG if it had this feature I would pay the additional feature costs in a heartbeat! Download this app and you will not regret it one bit!

Good but needs improvement
The version I have (current as far as I know) has lots of little glitches/improvements. All basic lands are labeled as banned(red) in Commander, meaning you have to cheat them into the deck instead of searching for them in 'Add'. The program crashes ALOT. In the 'My Precious' section, it doesn't label your collections low, high and average, correctly. I have a card that costs $300, and several that cost $20, and for some reason it labels my collection's high as $20, average as like $10, etc. I do really enjoy lots of stuff about this app though, the deck builder is great, card rulings are awesome, as is the scan function, and the cache means even with my wifi only iPad I can still check rulings on cards I have. Also, 'Buy the creator a drink' is a bit unprofessional, you should stand on the quality of your product for financing, not charity of others.

Best app in the Mutliverse
I love this app! Has just about everything you could want. Great tools for managing your collection, building decks, and testing out those decks, among many many other tools. I have a few suggestions if the creator reads these reviews:
- A way to mark cards you own as Foils
- A more robust way of testing out your deck. It's pretty good, but Decked Builder does it a little better by letting you move cards between your hand, the battlefield and your graveyard.
- A way to control how many copies of a card you add to a deck. It adds 4 cards by default, so you have to go into the deck and delete cards if you want less than 4
Other than that, great app. Five stars!

5 stars for a reason. It's the best.
It's a really great app, especially since the sort by set feature was added. I love the cover flow type option on browsing through cards. Took me a few tries to get the scan feature working and while I think it's a little too much effort to log my whole collection that way, it's a nice feature. Overall the best magic app in the store IMO. Fantastic life counter also!
Update: with every update this app gets better and better. The in app forums are a nice touch. It's Great to have a developer who interacts with the users of his app through that forum to discuss the app and mtg in general. Been searching the app store and I'm still convinced there is no better mtg app out there.
Update: new official mtg app is out. Utterly useless compared to iMTG. If you don't trust me download both and delete which one you don't like. I guarantee you will keep this one.

Awesome free ap
This ap has all the expansions in basic description and color cost and in full picture images so you can view the card it's self. I use this to count my life totals when I play magic and it is so easy and fast to use. I will never go back to the dice, now I can focus on my game and let the ap do the number crunching saving my brian power to focus on crunching my opponent instead. I play against some pretty tough players so that's a big help not having to worry about it. It also keeps their score and that really helps me out.
Once and a while it will freeze up but not often, and when it happens I just power down my phone and it's working fine when I power it back on. Been using it for several months now and hit has only done that a couple of times and I use it a lot.

EVERY MAGIC PLAYER SHOULD HAVE THIS!
I looked for this app for a while until I finally found iMtG. It's exactly what I was looking for and couldn't believe didn't exist somewhere, and was beginning to feel like it didn't. Could not be more pleased with the database search, card flow, searching by expansion or block, deck builder, ability to store a list of my own cards, create a list of cards I want, the life counter...everything. I know, I know, I sound like I know the developer...trust me I do not. I just thank him for taking the time to make it, doing it so well, updating it regularly and allowing me to 'waste' even more time on Magic : ) Like when my wife goes to the bathroom and asks me what I'm looking up when she gets back...and I have to reluctantly confess "...uh...looking at Magic cards..."...
