About
Give your e-ink Raspberry Pi a new life.
Ink Cartridge turns a tiny e-ink device — powered by a Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W — into a pocket-sized console you actually want to pick up. Browse an open, community-built library of "cartridges," load them on in a single tap, and play or glance at them right from your phone over Bluetooth. No cables. No web UI. No account.
PLUG IN A CARTRIDGE
• Browse a curated, open-source catalog of cartridges — games, puzzles, and glanceable tools
• Install, update, and switch them with one tap
• Launch and play them straight from your phone over Bluetooth
• Push live data — like local weather — to the e-ink screen automatically
• Change what your device does in seconds
KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR DEVICE
• Live status at a glance: battery, uptime, mode, and what's on screen
• Home-screen widget and local notifications for status changes
• Quick controls for a device you own
BUILT FOR THE OPEN-SOURCE COMMUNITY
Ink Cartridge is made for makers and tinkerers. A cartridge is just a small Python file plus a manifest and a UI described in plain JSON — the app renders the controls for you, so there's no app to rebuild and nothing to compile. Write your own, share it through the open catalog, and anyone can install it from their phone.
• Open, hackable cartridge format
• A community catalog anyone can contribute to
• Your API keys stay encrypted on your phone
• Simple, transparent permissions
ONE APP, A GROWING ECOSYSTEM
We're starting with the Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W e-ink build — with room to support many more small e-ink gadgets over time. One companion, an ever-growing shelf of cartridges.
Ink Cartridge is a companion and launcher for a device you own, talking to it locally over Bluetooth. It does not capture or decrypt any network traffic.
Grab your e-ink gadget, plug in a cartridge, and make it yours.

What's New in Ink Cartridge
1.1
July 11, 2026
• Swipe D-pad — directional games now use a large swipe pad pinned to the bottom of the screen, so the controls never scroll away mid-game. • RSS/Atom feeds — cartridges can now pull XML feeds, so news and feed displays can render on your device's e-ink. • Keep your device current — the app now alerts you when its companion plugin is out of date and can update it over Bluetooth with one tap. • Layout and reliability fixes throughout.
