Great Intervalometer Solution

Finally! A solution to getting beyond the 30s exposure limit that Sony sets with their built-in intervalometer. With this app can set custom BULB timers to any exposure time you want, set the number of pictures to be taken, and implement a BULB delay. It's very intuitive.

I tested this app using a Sony A7V.

First, update the BULB settings to turn the BULB timer off (Exposure/Color>Exposure>BULB Timer Settings>Exposure Time). This gives you the flexibility to set exposure time in the app. Connect the app to your camera via bluetooth (Network>Bluetooth>Pairing), use single shooting mode (Shooting>Drive Mode>Drive Mode), as well as one of the custom modes (M/S/A/P). You are then free to use whatever settings you want in the app.

I've found that without at least a 1 second delay in the BULB mode setting in the app it won't trigger the next picture to be taken.

Bulb exposures over 30s works well on my A7iii

Worked really well during my testing, it did 30 x 4min bulb exposures in a row (2 hours total) without loosing connection, and it still keeps working while I use the phone for other things or wander into the next room with the phone. It does disconnect every time the camera goes into standby, but reconnection seems quick and reliable. I haven’t used it in the field yet but it should be great for Astro, particularly for the new sony cameras which lack the multiport to connect an external intervalometer. I hope it works with the new A7V.

Just what I needed

Been looking for this kind of app for a while for Astro Photography, I have used the Sony IEM app for a while but that uses WiFi and drains the battery quickly. Also that app has no countdown timer so it’s all guess work with timing. A few teething issues but we’re quickly sorted by Nicolas. After a while testing at home I know this is going to work out great.
