About

User Guide InventoryBud organizes your inventory in a three-level hierarchy: Locations → Storage Units → Items. Think of it as: Kitchen Freezer → Bottom Shelf → Frozen Ribs Setting Up Your Inventory 1. Add a Location Tap + on the Home screen. Give it a name (e.g. "Kitchen Pantry", "Exam Room 1"), choose a type, and optionally enter temperature and humidity if relevant (wine cellar, medicine cabinet). Tap Save. 2. Add Storage Units Tap a location to open it, then tap + to add shelves, drawers, bins, or cabinets inside it (e.g. "Top Shelf", "Drawer A", "Bin 1"). 3. Add Items Tap a storage unit to see its contents, then tap + to add an item. Fill in: Name and category (e.g. Food, Valuable, Tools) Photo — use your device’s camera or choose from your library Location — defaults to the current shelf/drawer, or tap to change Quantity and optional low stock alert threshold Purchase date, store, and value (useful for insurance reports) Expiry date and alert timing — choose one or more from 1 day to 6 months before expiry Day-to-Day Use Tracking On any item list, use the − and + stepper to adjust quantity without opening the item. Every change is logged with your device name and timestamp. Home Screen Badges The Home screen shows colour-coded badges when action is needed — tap any badge to see the full list: Expired (red) Expiring soon (orange) — within 7 days Low stock (yellow) — quantity at or below alert threshold Out of stock (gray) Barcode Scanner Tap scanner button to scan a barcode and auto-fill form (name, category, brand, barcode image and number). Print label for an item which includes name, category, barcode image and number. Search Use the search bar to find any item by name, category, location, barcode number, or notes — results appear instantly as you type. Notifications Automatic alerts to your device at 9:00 AM before an item expires (based on the lead times you set) and immediately when stock drops to your low threshold. Managing Items Tap any item to open its detail screen where you can: Adjust quantity with the − / + controls View the expiry countdown and status badge Edit alert chips directly (tap to add or remove lead times) See the activity log showing who used or added items and from which device Tap the photo to view it full-screen (pinch to zoom, double-tap to toggle) Editing Swipe right on any room, unit, or item row to edit it Swipe left to delete (with confirmation) Right-click on Mac for the same options via context menu Household Sharing Any changes made on one device appear automatically on all your other devices via iCloud sync. Household members can use the app on their own devices and see each other's changes. The activity log on each item shows which device made each change (e.g. "Used 1 · Jul 6 · John's iPhone"). Subscription The free plan supports up to 30 items. Tap the crown icon (or checkmark if already subscribed) in the toolbar to view your plan status, see remaining free items, or upgrade with subscription for unlimited items across all your devices. Subscriptions support Family Sharing — one subscription covers everyone in your Apple Family group. Export Tap the export icon on the Home screen to generate a PDF inventory report grouped by location and storage unit, including all details. On iOS, share or save the PDF directly. On Mac, save as HTML and print to PDF via Cmd+P → Save as PDF. Tips The value field on items feeds into the report's total value summary, useful for home insurance documentation Low stock alerts work independently of expiry — set a threshold (e.g. alert when 2 or fewer left) on frequently-used items like paper towels or coffee In-App Purchase Billing Purchase applied to App Store account upon confirmation. Subscriptions auto-renew unless canceled within 24-hours before period ends. Cancel anytime via App Store settings. Unused free trial portion forfeited if purchasing subscription.
