IOL 2025

The International Linguistics Olympiad (IOL) is one of the twelve international science Olympiads designed for high school students. Established in 2003, the IOL challenges students to apply logical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity to decode linguistic puzzles from various languages around the world. Unlike many other competitions, no prior knowledge of specific languages or linguistics is required. Instead, students analyze unfamiliar linguistic structures, including syntax, phonology, semantics, and writing systems, relying on their ability to recognize patterns and solve complex problems.
