Ads block everything
Would give higher rating but within seconds of viewing a location a pop up ad takes over the screen and stays there indefinitely , with no way to get back to the iOverlander content. A completely frustrating disappointment

This used to be my favorite app now it’s absolutely trash. $100 a year for overlanding free camping? An absolute joke.

Be very careful, because many of these places no longer offer the services or are misinformed, and the managers don't verify the information. I paid $400 just to have my truck towed.

It should be so much better
Gotta say this app has great info from the community but the developers need to step it up, the audacity to try to charge $100 a year for this is absolutely pathetic

Free version is useless
I used to love this app. Now there are ads that pop up on the free version that you can’t close. There is no X anywhere. So unless you find your campsite in 30 seconds before an ad pops up it’s not functional anymore unless you get the paid version.
Price
This use to be an amazing site. My husband and I have used it several times for years. This last year there is now a cost to use it. We like to just look through out the year and only use it 2-3 times a year. It’s crazy.

Cash grab with once great app
I contributed for years to the iOverlander database. Now I cannot even see the items I added because to Search, Download, or even view BLM land - I must pay for a subscription. This app lost its soul. You should be ashamed.

Welp- forced to download this version since the devs bricked version 1 which just flat out worked…. For an app that was built from crowdsourcing they really have some nerve charging a 100$ a year for access. Should have offered discounts to everyone that ‘made this ‘ app what it is now . new version is paywalled beyond belief - not as snappy on low cell service either. Such a loss

Used to be free open source app where people could put this kind of information onto it for all people to access. Now the owners have come along, taken all of this information and put a paywall behind it. This information is from the people for the people, you did nothing create the dataset that you now charge for it isn’t yours to sell. Stop with the greed! Stop putting useless leeches at the intersection of every human interface! Let the people have freedom of discourse and information sharing!

Still sub par
I have not used this app in a year. I tried it again and cannot believe they made it worse. Forget about using your phone. Every time you zoom in on a street name or town name, it stays so small you cannot read it. I tried it with and iPad, same deal. You can no longer use the search function without paying. Not worth the money even free.

Hard to read
I tried the app. I’m a senior citizen with weak eyes. Couldn’t read even with reading glasses. Fonts stay extremely small even when zooming. Some names seem to disappear when zooming in.
No longer useful
This used to be the go-to app for Overlanders. No longer, it’s expensive and the interface is confusing and doesn’t really seem to work anymore. Sad, I’ve used it all over and contributed check ins which hopefully have helped others, no longer unfortunately.
Great app, kinda…
I find this app 10x more useful than the many “free” camping apps I’ve downloaded before. As a full timer, a lot of these hidden gems are better than paid campgrounds and state parks. Sites are reviewed more often and more recently too, giving me peace of mind that I won’t waste gas hunting out a dead location. So thanks to the community for that!
As for the app, it’s a mess!!! Favorites list never populates. I have to zoom in on the map and look for the hearts. I paid for annual unlimited, but having to download everything à la carte seems counterintuitive. A lot of the features are just buggy. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. And I don’t like the lack of privacy. I have a very unique name and a very public online profile and now I’m hesitant to leave any kind of review out update for fear of someone noticing it’s me.
Still a staple for a full time nomad but I hate having to muddle through the mess. As a developer myself, I know for a fact it wouldn’t take too much effort to fix the UI features at least. Even Claude can vibe code something a bit more functional than this 🫤

Horrible app now
The new app makeover sucks. The format is horrible and everything has a paywall now. Once a great app now its useless.
Scam Ads
In trying to edit a site I was presented with a clock here to continue button which opened a scam website trying to convince me it was apple telling me my phone was infected and tried to open the dialer
