Not worth it
Claims to support audio files and does not. When spoken directly into it does not take into consideration disordered speech. Transcribes as normal speech. Wasted my money here :(

I appreciate the ease of use. I can type in words and receive immediate IPA translation. It is so helpful for my choirs

I don’t really have much to say. I use this app almost daily as an armature linguistic nerd/conlanger, and it’s really handy to have on my phone. Only using 15 characters per day is kinda annoying, but it’s super easy to get around (this app has a f*k ton of bugs lol) so it’s not that bad. Overall, nice to have

English only or broken
Unclear how to use the app due to poor user interface design. Seems to only support English. Words in other languages return no ipa transcription potentially due to limited dictionary. Unclear why the app doesn’t work because the interface is not well designed for human users. Promotions to buy the pro version are frequent despite the app demonstrating its poor unfriendly non-intuitive design.

I don’t think this is entirely IPA Scribe’s fault, but their subscription model (where they offer a free trial, then default to an ongoing subscription charge) charges an authorization on your card, then a completion if you decide to keep the subscription. if you decide not to complete the transaction, it has still reserved the money until the authorization expires.
This model removes their full subscription fee from your limit before you decide to subscribe. It’s a very small amount, but I find it annoying that they reserve the money before you’ve decided to subscribe to their product.
I deleted the app immediately after seeing the authorization, but it was too late by then.
Don’t know if the app is any good. Never got that far.

Speech to transcription doesn’t even work.
Does not work as expected
This only works for the english language and does not actually transcribe the vowel/consonant sounds you are making. It uses your phone’s built in audio recognition to transcribe english and then just translates that to IPA regardless of how you actually pronounced it.
Deceptive marketing.
Extremely limited functionality while it instantly tries to charge you just to continue using the app.

Will not transcribe all given phonemes to IPA; will not transcribe my two syllable, European last name, for example. OK for broad transcription.
Nice app, couple asks to make the workflow smoother
Would be great if one could just long tap (or right click on mac) the IPA to copy it as text, or open an action menu allowing for different ways to copy it.

The app runs instantaneously and works well and logically. I use it to quickly get the phonetics for a word that I may not know IPA for
What is live is a short cut action, I could use the system ask for input to enter the word I need IPA for, then your app’s action would put out the IPA for it. You could give it a customized card to give the shortcut some of your app’s design language (like how the budgeting app Nudget does its actions) or you could just keep it a basic text output and I could use the show result action to view it. This would make it so easy to get the IPA either from the assistive touch menu, homescreen, or even using Siri
