Most of the earth is covered with water. However, just three percent of it is fresh water. Liquid freshwater is a precious commodity that is becoming increasingly scarce worldwide. The amount of freshwater consumed each year is made up of three parts: private households account for the smallest, and industry for the medium part. The largest consumer at almost 70 percent, is agriculture.
