Dont Use

Please dont download the app. I dont understand why there is an aggregate of 4 star reviews when there are so many 1 star reviews.
They make you pay before you even bold a profile. And there are barely ~30
People there. There is no special algorithm. The app literally has no special features to offer for the money you pay. Just aesthetics and marketing.

Lot of issues

Based on my experience, the platform did not feel worth the subscription cost. Many of the profiles appeared unusually generic or inactive, which gave me the impression that some may have been created primarily to populate the platform during its early stages. I also found the overall level of user activity quite low, making it difficult to find meaningful matches.

Another drawback is that the platform requires payment relatively early in the sign-up process, before you have much opportunity to evaluate the quality or activity of the user base. For me, this resulted in poor value for money.

I would encourage prospective users to carefully review the platform, its refund policy, and the level of activity in their area before purchasing a subscription. Based on my experience, I would personally recommend exploring other, more established alternatives.

Not enough options/matches

To be paying for an app, there are way less people to even be able to match with. Why is the point of this app?

Not worth it

I tried the app for one month… But within the first couple of days, I had no options to swipe based off of my very minimal criteria. Either a lot of people do not use this app or the app just does not give quality. Either way slightly disappointed because this was the last time I was gonna try any more dating apps

Waste of time

Theres not enough people on the app for enough matches. Had a profile for over a month and I got zero matches. I dont even think I’m uninteresting or low effort, the matchmaking is just so bad.

Not possible to search by distance

Filters only allow you to search by age and religion. You cannot search by filter. Expected more from a paid membership.

Not recommended

U can’t do anything without subscribing waste of time

Not good

First up, they charge you $30 (as a monthly recurring payment) to make a profile. Then once you make a profile, they force you to share the app three times before you can use the profile.

I’ve been on the app for a month. I don’t claim to be the most beautiful person in the world but I’m at the least a decent looking dude. Not one match. Wasted money. Wasted time. Now my self esteem is in the trash. Thanks, Ishq.

Unimpressed

This app charges you to sign up, and then forces you to invite three friends before you can use your profile. AFTER paying. There are no options to filter for my area, apologies but I’m not interested in long distance dating strangers. Waste of money and time.

Couldn't get it started

Signed up, replied to their emails, still couldn't get approved 3 weeks later. So much for intentional dating.

Unprofessional founders

Do NOT recommend this app. The founders completely ghost after trying to get you to pay. They don't account for your preferences at all, and genuinely do not care about users. Avoid this platform; they market themselves on dating with intention, but don't even respond to intentional users.

Not different than dil mil or hinge

You’re forced to pay $30 a month to even use the app and have less features than apps that require the same payment. You can’t set distance you’re stuck with what you get. Only thing you can select is age and religion. You’re still swiping to match with Indian girls who do not even message back. Their whole idea of just talking to one person would be great if you can get a match and that girl actually responds and doesn’t live hundreds of miles away from you. For all the vetting that goes into this app I’m really disappointed that I spent money on it without a free trail to know what I’m getting into.

Worst experience

this is by far the worst experience.

WORST DATING APP EVER!!!

This is by far the worst dating app I have ever used.

The profile setup process is frustratingly slow, and there is no option to skip sections that you may not want to complete immediately. The app markets itself as a premium experience, but in reality, you end up seeing many of the same profiles that are already available on other dating apps.

What frustrates me the most is that you are only shown a handful of profiles, and if you’re not interested in any of them, there is no way to refresh the list or browse additional people. The profiles don’t even refresh automatically. I genuinely don’t understand how the app justifies charging $30 per month while lacking such basic functionality.

Even more confusing is the fact that users are expected to pay before they can properly explore or experience the app. Most dating apps allow users to at least try the platform before asking for a subscription.

The personality test also feels generic and heavily AI-generated. Much of the text throughout the app has obvious signs of AI-written content, which makes the overall experience feel less authentic. On top of that, there are very few meaningful filter options available, despite the premium price tag.

To make matters worse, customer support appears to be non-existent. I tried contacting them via email for clarification and even requested a refund within an hour of subscribing, but I never received any response whatsoever.

Overall, I cannot recommend this app. For $30 a month, I expected a polished experience with proper features, responsive support, and a genuine value proposition. Instead, the app feels incomplete, overpriced, and incredibly frustrating to use.

Response from developer

Hi there, thanks for reaching out. We're sorry that you felt the experience on Ishq was subpar. 1. You should be able to view all profiles on the app and can filter through them, which should update the view. We're the only app that allows you to freely browse the entire set of profiles on Ishq! 2. We do not use AI for any of the copy or text throughout the app, and the personality test is actually inspired by a prioritization model that dates back centuries, just modernized. 3. We might have missed the email, so please reach out again. We're happy to help take care of you and make sure you give Ishq another shot. Thanks for trying us out regardless, and this feedback will directly go into improving the app.

Review

The idea of the app is great, but the platform has limited members which makes matching and finding what you are seeking very challenging.

Consult waste management

I rarely leave reviews, but I felt genuinely disappointed after paying $30 for one month on this app. The onboarding process is unnecessarily long and frustrating. The questionnaire takes forever because the app slowly types out each question and doesn’t allow you to skip ahead, making setup feel tedious instead of engaging.

What’s worse is that after spending all that time setting up your profile, the actual experience is extremely underwhelming. I’ve only had the app for a few days, and it keeps showing me the exact same small group of people over and over again- maybe 8 or 9 profiles total. There’s no real refresh system or ability to explore more matches. If you’re not interested in that initial group, you’re basically stuck.

For a South Asian dating app that asks detailed personal questions during setup, it’s also surprising how limited the filtering options are. The app asks about religion, lifestyle habits, and preferences, but then doesn’t allow meaningful filtering based on those answers. As a Muslim, I would expect the ability to only see or match with other Muslims. I’d also expect filters for lifestyle compatibility, such as non-smokers, non-drinkers, and people with similar values - especially on a paid app.

There’s also little ability to filter by location or other important compatibility factors, which makes the matches feel random and not personalized at all despite the lengthy questionnaire.

Overall, the app feels slow, repetitive, and poorly designed for something that charges a premium monthly fee. Unfortunately, I haven’t found anything about the experience that justifies the cost. Huge waste of money.

Response from developer

Hi! Sorry to hear that you don't find the app to be up to your standards. We'll definitely rethink the onboarding, our intention is for it to be thought provoking so that folks don't just quickly set up a profile and start swiping. But I agree, we can make improvements to the profile set up. As for the filtering options, we're looking to add more filters as the user base grows. And as for the price, we're a very small team that is fully bootstrapped and we built this product for our community. But we never want the price to deter anyone from experiencing the app. So please reach out via email and I'd love to find a way for you to stick around, grow with us, and experience the app without having to worry about the cost.

A bit disappointing

I wasn’t able to access this app without paying FIRST.. a free trial for even a day would’ve been acceptable. $20 for a week and $30 for the month without deciding if you like the app or not isn’t worth it imo.

Response from developer

Hi! Sorry to hear this. We have tried a free trial option in the past but found that the people who do sign up aren't as intentional about their matches and ghost others. The price does offer an incentive for everyone to engage and put in effort into the app. However, if you feel that the cost is too much for you to experience the app, please reach out via email and I think we can definitely find a way to make sure you can still benefit from using the app without having to worry about price.

Experience with the app

I have been trying to delete my account for weeks now and the app doesn’t allow me to do so, i have also emailed customer support with no reply back. I think its unprofessional to not have proper procedures in place…..
i genuinely do like the app concept but just having a good product is not enough.
Customer service is equally as important

Hi! Sorry about this, this was a bug that was fixed in app release 2.0.63. So if you update the app, you should be able to delete your profile. If you ever want to rejoin, we'll always have a spot for you.

Unable to browse profiles

I’m unable to browse profiles getting error as unable to load subscription but ishq community has given the lifetime free subscription can u pls check??

Response from developer

Hi! We aren't aware of this bug, if you could reach out to us via email with any screenshots or details about the issue you're facing, we'll take a look right away!

scam, breach of privacy

i was on the app for a very short time only and soon heard rumors in the desi community that the creators of the app read through the user’s chats and try to influence their decisions of being with someone they’re chatting with in the app since the creator of the app is in the desi community. I became super sus after that and deleted my account. it just seems like a scam…the same people i see on hinge are on the app it isn’t anything different and i definitely
don’t want them breaching my private data. the price is also ridiculous in my opinion i think they’re just scamming us and taking our money.
