Wanted to type but don’t work, then the Home Screen just flashes for no reason
What happened? Apple neglect
This app used to be great, a lovely way to control iTunes remotely is my iPhone or iPad. Yet, it has not been updated in recent memory. (2020) Now the add to what’s next feature doesn’t work, and it only plays songs, not albums. What happened? Why has Apple neglected this very useful app? It is way past time for Apple Music remote!

Please update Remote
I have been using Remote for more than 15 years and it is an integral part of my music life and the music life of hundreds of friends and Neighbor’s who walk by my house or visit my home and enjoy all the Apple Music that my wife has purchased over the last 20+ years. I have 7 airport devices that are connected to a single Apple Mac Mini. Since moving from “iTunes” to “Music” I have found that a lot of features of Remote no longer work. I appreciate that it still works at all, but I wish that a new version was developed that would not just be backwards compatible but actually bring awesome new features for the people who have invested a lot of money purchasing music through Apple and from independent artists and have maintained it all on their Apple computers :-)

No radio
Such a basic thing, and it’s simply not possible to switch to a radio station on the remote

Works well. I just wish we had a few more ways to sort the songs like through the “years” would be a nice addition. Or “album artist” in its own tab.
Also if we could long press on a song to add quickly to a playlist that would help.

Stream My Music
I’ve ripped all of my CDs, and neighbors’ as well, onto a an external drive attached to my Mac Mini M2 at lossless quality. I use this app to stream music from the computer to a Bluesound node attached to my stereo amp. I can also access the music files through my two AppleTV devices. I have access to my music pretty much though out my house.

Queue functionality no longer working after recent software updates
You can play individual songs/albums/playlists 1 at a time from your media library but it won’t let you manually add things to your queue anymore. Extremely frustrating, please fix this!!!
Won’t play an album
Click play on an album and it will only play the first song not even able to click next track
Mostly great features
I love the Remote app with the two BIG exceptions being the random-play feature and volume control with AirPlay. It is a terrible randomizer, playing multiple tracks allied with an album in a row. Since OS26, AirPlay messes up the volume sporadically.
Does Apple know this app still exists?
I actually find the app quite useful but I don’t think any bugs have been fixed or features added in the past decade or so.
App used to work without fail
Like a great many things in the Apple ecosystem this app used to work flawlessly but now not so much. Now, to get my airplay devices to play I need to start playback from a computer then add my airplay device(s). Then, most of the time I can listen to music and adjust the volume. There are times however when this doesn’t work and I am not able to adjust the volume from within the app. I’ve even submitted feedback to Apple but of course I never hear anything.

Update needed
It’s pretty pathetic that Apple has not updated this app to handle Apple Music remotely. How many years is it going to take?
Song order
Can no longer play songs on an album in their order. I have to select “shuffle” otherwise this remote will play only 1 song!
Different every time
Each time I try to get into my iTunes account it is extremely difficult. I try to sign in on my iPad and I have to go through many steps. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. If I can connect, it tries to connect to my iTunes on my computer. Again sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn’t. Last time I did connect, it wiped out half of an important playlist I created. It’s terrible because I can’t call anybody for support. How worse can it get?

One of Apple’s best softwares, but urgently in need of an update and some bug fixes as well as a lock of paint.
Life changer
Most underrated app out there. Full control of my music library from the comfort of my backyard. I stream my music from my Mac to an Apple TV connected to my stereo with speakers wired throughout the property. I can dial up any tune I want while sitting by the pool and can even turn the volume down when my wife gives me that look.

Please bring back iTunes Remote for Apple Watch
I used iTunes remote to control my iTunes server from my pool for years. This was a great app that allowed me to change music and control my iTunes server while in the pool without having to have my phone. I’ve spoken with many people who did the same thing and would appreciate having the app back on Apple Watch. Apple bring this back to your loyal users.

Daily Driver
I’ve been using iTunes Remote for years to control the Music app on my Mac, which feeds a dedicated DAC and Yamaha stereo amplifier. For that setup, this app is indispensable.
Instead of walking back to the computer every time I want to change an album, adjust the queue, or search my library, I can do it all from my listening chair.
What I appreciate most is that Apple has kept this app simple. It isn’t overloaded with unnecessary features—it just reliably controls my Mac-based music library from anywhere in the house. For anyone who uses a Mac as the heart of a system, iTunes Remote remains one of Apple’s most underrated apps.
Five stars. I just hope Apple continues to support it for many years to come.

Functionality
Remote is fine- does what you need. Controls iTunes libraries as well as Apple TV. Please develop a widget for the lock screen. Like any remote, quickness of access is key. It's a little to clunky to unlock the phone and search for the app. (update 12/2026: it’s the exact same)
