About

iYijing is an offline study companion for the Chinese Book of Changes (Zhouyi). It includes all 64 hexagrams and the Ten Wings, with optional vernacular notes and the James Legge 1882 public-domain English translation. The focus is education and cultural literacy. It is not a fortune-telling or decision oracle. Why iYijing Many I Ching apps are quote browsers or result-first tools. iYijing is a long-term study desk for reading, practice, and review. Bilingual reading, immersive layout, speech, notes, lists, widgets, and Shortcuts help the classic enter daily life. 1. Offline library - 64 hexagrams with judgments, lines, and commentary structure - Ten Wings: Great Treatise I/II, Discussion of Trigrams, Sequence, Miscellaneous - Eight trigrams, famous lines, and browse by classic groupings - Local search across names, Chinese, vernacular, and English - Continue reading and history - No account, ads, or tracking. Fully offline 2. Bilingual close reading - English modes: original only, English under original, or bilingual comparison - Optional vernacular, pinyin, and line image text - Clear name hierarchy and immersive horizontal or vertical layout - Body text scale about 50% to 300% - Relation maps: nuclear, opposite, inverted, changed - Notes, mastery, favorites, custom hexagram lists - Shareable study cards; speech and recitation with follow-along highlight - Quick reading display controls while studying 3. Yijing Study - Six quiz modes: name, glyph, sequence, judgment fill-in, line position, trigrams - Keyword hunt for classical terms - Wrong-book focused practice and mastery progression - Learning streaks and a learning archive - A loop from reading to practice to review 4. Cultural casting, not prediction - Coin method and yarrow-stalk (Dayan) procedure practice - Primary, changed, and moving lines as a doorway back into the text - Saved records with editable questions and reflections - Clear notice: traditional ritual and structure only. Not fortune telling, prediction, luck reading, or decision guidance 5. Daily Hexagram and system features - Daily Hexagram with context cues for reflection - Optional local notifications - Home Screen widgets: daily, famous lines, favorites, study progress - iOS 18 Control Center widgets for daily, casting, search, study, favorites, recitation, famous lines, keyword hunt - Optional reading Live Activity, off by default - Siri, Shortcuts, deep links, optional Spotlight and iCloud key-value sync - Home shortcuts, Quick Actions, alternate icons, import/export, and guides 6. Designed for serious readers - Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and English interface - Warm paper-like reading surfaces and iPad-friendly layouts - Educational purpose and disclaimer shown in About and guides - Offline-first privacy with no account system Who it is for - Readers who want the full Zhouyi, not only short quotes - Learners and teachers who need bilingual study aids - Users who want quizzes, notes, lists, and streaks - People curious about casting ritual inside an educational frame - Anyone who prefers a private, ad-free offline tool Suggested use Start with Daily Hexagram or one familiar hexagram, enable bilingual or vernacular aids as needed, then run a short quiz. If you try cultural casting, read the disclaimer and return to the text for reflection. Keep lists, notes, and widgets close at hand. Content note Original Chinese texts are public-domain classics. English uses James Legge, The Yi King (1882), public domain. Vernacular notes are for study reference only. Version note 1.0.0 is the first release, covering the offline library, bilingual reading, cultural casting, Yijing Study, Daily Hexagram, widgets, Control Center, Shortcuts, deep links, and optional sync. Please use iYijing as an educational and cultural study app. Interpretations vary; treat them thoughtfully. This app does not replace professional advice and does not encourage using casting results for major decisions.
