It Was Great

this hearing test had worked great for me. I was experiencing instances of sudden hearing loss. It was very helpful to be able to check my hearing as the dosage of prednisone was changed by my doctor.

The audiogram from HearingCenter was close enough to the professional audiograms that my doctor included them in my chart.

Unfortunately, this app no longer works with iOS 18.

Jacoti, please update the app!

Doesn’t support current iPhones

The app let me sign up, took my data, then said my iPhone 15 Pro was not supported. Really?? Why did it let me install it then?! Why isn’t the latest iPhone supported? Ridiculous useless app who now stole my data.

Doesn’t support newer iPhones - iPhone 14 not supported

The App Store shows the app supports my phone. It allows me to create an account. Give them my information and email. Forced me to confirm my email before it goes forward.

Then it tells me my phone is not supported. Reading earlier reviews, they responded they don’t work with any newer iPhones created since 2022.

Yeah, this is a dead app just trolling for user names and emails. Go somewhere else. You have been warned.

This is it!

Look no further for a hearing test app for audiogram and data! If you're in for OTC hearing aids etc etc then JacotiHearingCentre (JHC) app is it (and free too)! The app integrates with Apple's Health app for data storage and retrieval (also via the web by the way). The ability of the thorough app to test my poor hearing is useful to me, and recommended it to friends. Pure tone tests span 125Hz through to 12000Hz noting that from 8000Hz I get the value 85dBHL, meaning I am deaf there. The app gave me urgent advice to see my Audiologist soon (done that years ago)! The app is not difficult to use. Try and you get the hang of it soon. Use a quiet room testing it with the free NIOSH app "as-is" (I aim at 30-33dBA). The JHC app needs registering, with email confirmation - no problem. A small price for excellent info. My equipment is iPhone SE 2022, and AirPods 2nd Gen. Search for Jacoti on WWW for info about app's background and company credentials. Impressive.

Doesn’t Support AirPods Pro 2nd gen

The manual says it supports AirPods Pro 2nd gen, but when I select them and try to test I get “This device is not supported yet.”

UPDATE: Per the developer’s response, there are not one but two problems here. The lesser is that the placement and wording of this error message doesn’t make it clear that it is the device and not the earbuds that are not supported.

The bigger problem is not supporting iPhones 14 and 15, especially since the 14 has been out for over a year. If and when they release a version for the iPhone 15 I will update my review.

Response from developer

Dear Gadget Guy, We're currently supporting the following headphones: Apple AirPods 2nd gen / 3rd gen / Pro 2nd gen and EarPods, and the following iPhones: 11 / 11 Pro / 11 Pro Max / SE 2nd Gen / 12 / 12 Pro / 12ProMax / 12Mini / 13 / 13Pro / 13ProMax / 13Mini. The message you're mentioning is referring to the iPhone model. Indeed you must be using an iPhone 14 or 15 model which is not supported yet. We will improve our labelling to clarify this limitation and be sure we will do our best to extend the list of supported iPhones for the next versions. Thanks for your review.

Convenient for Monitoring Sudden Changes in Hearing

My hearing started fluctuating several years ago and once I found this app, I’ve been using it to track changes in my hearing ever since. It’s super convenient for my own records and Jacoti’s results are a near perfect match to my professionally-done hearing tests. So glad to see it updated to work on the latest iOS

Simply

Please stay in the know about software updates iOS made these hearing tests a way to make audio better for peeps like me but I’m IOS 15 not 14… when there’s an update I’ll gladly take the test and change my rating

Not able to use iPhone 13pro or iOS 15?!

Almost a year after iOS 15 and iPhone 13 have been out, both are unsupported. That’s wild. App deserves to be removed from App Store.

No iOS 15 support and no AirPods support

This is the best app there is. But I can’t use it anymore because iPhone 13 pro came with iOS 15 and I am using AirPods.

I hope they will bring out a new app for iOS 15 and AirPods.

Worse than no stars.

Jacoti no longer supports this app. It does not work and will not test your hearing.

Does not support ios 13?!?

Please support ios 13!

Dear gsxr_B_rad, We do not support AirPods as they introduce some delay that would make our apps ineffective. We are always on the lookout for technological advancements in the Bluetooth area and we assure you that we will introduce such technology when we see fit!

Iphone x not supported

Unfortunately iphone x is not supported, so I have to delete this.

Dear st.noelanne, As of yet we do not support AirPods as they introduce some audio delay that would make our apps ineffective. We are always on the lookout for technological advancements in the Bluetooth area and we assure you that we will introduce such technology when we see fit!

This is a great app using phone as hearing aid.

I use your app and compared it to actual testing with audiologist the next day and the result are accurate. Good job with the app. I use the hearing app and I hear better with this then the $7000 hearing aid from Oticon. Wish you can develop a device that adjust to routine testing, that would be perfect. Problem with hearing aid is that I needed time consuming testing and appointments to adjust changes in my hearing. Your app exceeded my expectation and some. It actually took into account the environment changes like watching movie, conversation and listening to music on the phone. I highly recommend this.

Comprehensive and accurate

This app very accurately assess hearing. The audiogram it produces is remarkably similar to what I have from professional audiologist tests. Make sure you go through the tutorial before starting the test, however, to understand the functions of the three buttons of the hearing test.

Not if You Have Moderate Hearing Loss

First I do wear hearing aids. There are times at work I wish I could hear better due to background noise-same as at home. The app works but I suspect it would be fine for those with minor hearing loss. Turning volume up past 3/4 produces hiss and really tunes in background vibration/hum/noises- think AC or washing machine. Also you have to use Apple earbuds for the self hearing test. That's great if you're one of the few who can actually wear them comfortably. I plugged my high end earbuds in and still got the same results. I'll keep the apps and see if there are other times it might be beneficial.
