Kitchen Issues
Purchased the kitchen update and most of the time it won’t open. Very frustrating that it just keeps giving me a message about loading, but it never loads. I have to close my iPad to close out of the app because it won’t allow it to do anything. Not happy after I spent money for it. It doesn’t deserve one star but it will not allow a no star rating.

It’s a Free Game
I had JL cards sent to me a few times and decided to become a member. I noticed the free cottage game and downloaded it on my computer and phone. It’s so beautiful and cute. I was shocked by all the reviews complaining about it. For starters… it’s free for everyone and the idea is brilliant. You’re supposed to retreat into your cottage as a break from the world. Sit at the table, play a few games… boop your kitties, and maybe do some redecorating eventually. I love the music and soundscape options. I open the game on my computer, let the music shuffle while I work, and after getting some work done… I play a few rounds of a game or send a letter to my hubby or kids… then back to work. I get that there could be more options but it’s a free game that is done beautifully. I appreciate it for what it is… having said that… if there were to be updates, I think these would be fun… having it go night based on computer time (seeing the lamps and fire at night would be awesome), the ability to interact with pets more, and indoor and outdoor holiday decorations. Anyway, I will be getting the expansion packs for more enjoyment soon. Thank you for this lovely spot!

Don’t Bother!
This is supposed to be a fun activity, but don’t waste your time or money. Winning the various games earns points which you can redeem to decorate the cottage. Unfortunately, winning is very difficult and Jacquie Lawson will not adjust the winnability. A very frustrating experience!

I love Jacquie Lawson BUT DISAPPOINTED!!!
I love JL ecards and the annual Christmas Advent apps. So I downloaded this app AND purchased the extras. I’ve played all the games and earned a bunch of points and after acquiring everything there is with points and completing all the decor options - there is NOTHING left to do except try and best my own best scores. I’ve achieved absolute BOREDOM. Where are updates? New challenges? I’m very disappointed!!

The music isn’t consistent
I find the entire app incredibly relaxing- I only took two stars away because the music doesn’t always come on and that adds to the experience!
Any Updates coming?
I love this app, but it would be nice to have updated decorating features/more options. Is anyone working on this app, or is it what you see is what you get? Haha
No updates for ages
Seems this app is not going to get any new features or packs so once you’ve unlocked the furnishings and the two expansion packs, which doesn’t take very long, that’s it. Bit pricey for what you ultimately get considering there’s no regular additions or new items. Disappointing
Love this app but it needs to be updated
The kitchen doesn’t show the video for the daily reward. It’s just a blank screen and I have to close the app. This makes me sad because I love this app. Fix it please!

Why isn’t there an upstairs?
It would be much funner if we could design the upstairs as you could make the bed and decorate a bathroom.
The games need improvement. Compared to the calendars for Christmas this is boring but you could add games like baking some cookies or playing with the pets or even add a book.

Brilliant
Love this app! Word games, puzzles, decorating, and beautiful graphics! And no adverts!!! I play it every day and send messages to my friends from the desk. Now I have the garden and kitchen and easily achieved over 300,000 points. Can’t understand the poor reviews. This is brilliant.

There is so much to do omg. I completed everything in this app and had so much fun doing it. Also the is many games like solitary and puzzle and the sounds and music that come with it just make me feel like I’m in the game and outside in a cosy little cottage. GET THIS APP x
Country cottage solitaire review
The solitaire game in garden area lagged and hesitates between clicks, so you can’t go fast, you have to wait each click for it to catch up. Very irritating. Click a card .. wait, click a card .. wait, ? What’s the point? It also sends each card to every pile before where your building. Developer aimed to annoy. Best if you slide the cards yourself.

No paintbrush!
I can’t get into decorating mode even though all my fixes are done!! I still have a wrench that does nothing either inside or out of the cottage when I click it.
This happens on the Windows version too!

Disappointing
I have enjoyed the Jacque Lawson e-cards I have received from others over the last few years. Then I got the advent calendar as a gift this year and really loved it. So I thought I’d give the country cottage a try. The free version was ok but I thought it was just so limited because it was free, so I bought the kitchen and garden additions. Nope. They are just as limited and quite frankly, pretty boring. The graphics are lovely, as you would expect, but there is nothing really to do - except a few repetitive games or choosing between a few choices of decorations. You can’t move between the rooms or garden without getting out of each section of the game on the website. The games also can be glitchy and freeze while you are playing. Hopefully the developers will put a LOT more effort into improving this app.

Fun for mindless games
I like playing mindless card games to wind down so it’s perfect for me. However, it is SUPER frustrating to finish the garden card game that takes a long time, only to have an error that I need to log in again appear instead of the game score/coins earned.
Fortunately, my four year old daughter found the debug menu when she was decorating my house and managed to acquire about 3 million coins, so the loss doesn’t bother me too much. But I still think it’s a flaw in the game design. Also it would be nice if it didn’t seem to require a constant Wi-Fi connection. It would be a perfect airplane game otherwise.
Finally, I wish it were possible to turn off the cat roomba in the kitchen. It’s amusing the first few times but is tedious after a few weeks

Been a fan for years, like so many others, but my experience with this app and the lack of real support has forever changed that.
If you have any problems with this app or the paid add-one DON’T expect any actual help or a refund. What you will get if you reach out to tech support is a constant carrousel of regurgitated suggestions.
It doesn’t matter what device you’re using; PC or Mac, tablet or phone, Android or Apple, they will send you the series of “fixes” one at a time, each time you reach out to them. I sent a series of 6 emails, each one clarifying what my issue was and that I had exhausted all published suggested fixes, both online and in app, but they dribbled out the same published suggested fixes in snippets as a response, never actually addressing my questions.
I would recommend avoiding Jacquie Lawson apps at all cost, there’s absolutely zero responsibility.

Terrible Tech Support
I’ve loved Jacquie Lawson interactive apps for years from the Advent Calendars to other downloadable games. This is the first time I’ve experienced a tech issue but boy what an eye opener.
I purchased the Kitchen Expansion for this Country Cottage app and it doesn’t work on any of my devices; Windows PC running 10, Samsung tablet, and new iPhone 14 Plus.
There are a number of different options to troubleshoot this issue and when researched there are a lot of customers who’ve had the same problem.
Unfortunately the tech support for Jacquie Lawson just keeps regurgitating the same steps without any additional info or real help with troubleshooting. Very frustrating and disappointing as well as a complete waste of money. If you want to avoid a major headache look for fun elsewhere. This is not the app for you.

Lovely but flawed
I was thrilled to spend time cleaning up my cottage, I played lots of games so I could really deck out the interior in style. I have over 1500 points waiting to go…then….nothing. The app locked me out. Nothing happens when I tried to access the catalog. I tried deleting the app and downloading again but it just reinstalled what was saved on the Cloud. Deep sadness….:(
