Reviews are broken…

FINALLY seeing people talk about the reviews not working. I tried emailing about the issue and showed a picture and no response yet.

It’s unfortunate! I was using this app every day!

Reviews no longer function

Lessons can be completed, but reviews don’t save. Have had to switch apps, and don’t like the other app. Please fix this app so I can use it properly again.

Review stopped working after last update

Reviewed items won’t save.

Favorite wanikani app but I NEED HELP

This has been my go to app for wanikani for the last two years. I think it’s the best one out there, easily.
I’m hoping a developer sees this review. I’m having issues using the app at the moment. I have signed out and back in, switched from automatically getting the api token to providing it myself manually, and even deleting the whole app and redownloading it. Nothing I do fixes the issue though.

Every time I do a lesson it scores me at 0% regardless what I actually scored and then does not adjust the review totals. Every time I try it just give me the same 15 recycled reviews.

If someone or a developer knows what the issue is I’d love some help. Thanks!

I love the app and I want to keep using it PLEASE HELP! 🙏

Title

Love the app, but the mic is no longer working for me on ipad pro. The app doesn’t show up in the privacy settings for those apps that request permission to use the mic.

Didn’t work

Had to uninstall because the app crashed when signing in. Stuck at gathering data from wanikani screen. Endless loop.

Wonderful App but Font changes on iOS 16 harder to use.

Font has changed on application from iOS 15 to iOS 16 and it low key is making it uncomfortable to use compared with previous font styling. Any chance that we can make fonts configurable? I love using this app but since the font change it has become harder to use and enjoy.

Runs Flawlessly - EDIT: THERE’S AN UNDO BUTTON FOR TYPOS

I’ve been using this for a couple weeks now and it’s perfect. Super grateful to the developer. A really good app.

EDIT: WOAH AN UNDO BUTTON FOR TYPOS LET’S GO!

Best Wanikani iOS app

Really enjoyed switching to this. However, I would like to have the additional study feature added to this app. Wanikani recently added a way to review mistakes and recent items without affecting the SRS level. This would be very useful for going back and seeing what I missed.

Main reason for switching to this app are Kanji stroke order, and more visually appealing UI.

Keyboard glitch

Beautiful app but adding notes makes a keyboard that won’t then “go away.” So, I added a note to one kanji while learning a new set and now it won’t let me take the quiz because I can’t get the keyboard out of the way. You can back out and go back in, but that feels slightly disruptive of the process.

Great app but randomly decides to shutdown

I used Jakeipuu for a year or so in 2019 and then just one day it started to just reload for three days straight where I could even use it. I recently used it yesterday and the day before after almost 2 years of not being to use it. Now it’s signed me out and it keeps saying unable to log in after trying numerous times! It’s a great app which is why it’s so frustrating how randomly it just shut down!

Almost ideal but…

This is very nearly my ideal app for third party support of Wanikani and in fact does some things I wish were implemented into the Wanikani website itself (such as teaching stroke order when a new kanji is introduced, I LOVE that)
But if I could suggest some improvements: in an ideal world I would love to have a way to return back to the last displayed item and open up the full set of information on it even if we are in the quick mode set to automatically take us to the next item if we answer correctly. Sometimes I answer something correctly but I know it has multiple readings and would like to double check my memory on the other possible means but because I got it correct it automatically moves me on to the next item with no way to return. I could turn off this setting but usually I want to quickly move on for the sake of efficiency and it’s not worth it to constantly have to manually go to the next question.

Also, I would love a way to report issues directly.

for example: I recently had the word 頁(ページ) pop up in a lesson but there is no way to correctly type in the correct reading for the word. ぺーじ is not accepted. ぺえじ is not accepted. ぺじ is not excepted and I can’t turn hiragana into katakana by making it capitalized like on the Wanikani website. If I try to switch my keyboard itself into my Japanese keyboard it automatically reverts it to hiragana in the answer field. As long as this word is in my queue I won’t be able to finish reviews with this app and that greatly saddens me but I have no way of reporting this issue other than putting it here (so sorry to everyone that’s just here for a review of the app, please forgive this obscure nitpick forced into where it doesn’t belong)

Beautiful App!

Great iOS app for accessing Wani Kani. Just wish it gave me the option for onyomi in katakana.

i don’t understand

this app is really confusing. whenever i do reviews and lessons, i complete them, but no progress has been made?? like i do 30 reviews and finish it but it says i answers 0 questions?

Won’t load

Heard good things. Input my Wanikani info, says it’ll take a minute to load my progress, and it is still loading after a long time. Cant give this a good review until I can actually use it.

I want to use this App

I’ve heard such good things about this app that I want to use it. I installed it on iOS. App says I need an API token and I have no idea what that is. Maybe someone could help?

Easily my favorite WaniKani app, with a few reservations

This is a fantastic WaniKani review app, and definitely the best one I’ve used on iOS. It looks great and works very well. There are a few small things that bother me, but nothing that deal breaking. I covered all my suggestions in an email sent to the dev, but in short: - Info automatically popping up upon wrong answer - Ability to mark correct answers as incorrect - A fix for audio sometimes restarting mid-play Even without these additions and fixes, though, I still think this is a great app and well worth using!

Edit: The faults of this app are starting to get really annoying over time, and there hasn’t been any response from the dev from what I can see. I’m not even sure if this is being developed anymore. Unfortunately, this is still the best WaniKani app on iOS. It’s so close to being great that it’s frustrating.

Edit 2: There have been a handful of updates now. They sadly have not addressed any of the improvements I’ve been hoping for, but it shows that the app is still being worked on, so I’ve upped the rating to 4 stars.

Broken on iPhone 12 Pro Max iOS 14.5

Hangs and spins forever claiming to be doing its initial setting of data. I’ve tried deleting and reinstalling, and no dice. No way to get to any settings or menus, it just spins on that loading screen. It’s dead, Jim.

Loving it!

So far I’m loving this app. Super simple to use so long as you go into the Wanikani site to familiarize yourself with the process. I just have one thing for you to look at in the kanji reading input. I spelled out juu for the ten kanji using kana (じゆう) and it was marked incorrect. Not sure if it’s because the “ were added separately from the し on the keyboard on my phone. The website allows you to choose じ directly. Thanks for the great app. I took a screenshot just in case you need it.

Better than Tsurukame

I have used Tsurukame for a while, but I was annoyed that I couldn’t add notes, edit meanings (and see my edits), etc.

Luckily, this app came along! I downloaded in Jan 2021 and I love it. It looks and feels a lot like the WaniKani website, which is nice. It has clear UI for adding notes to mnemonics and synonyms. It also has an easy navigation to drill backwards from a vocab word to the kanji and then it’s radicals. Lastly, if you get a meaning wrong and want to review it, it shows you the meaning, but not the pronunciation (unless you click over to that), and vice-versa.

The app is new, and there are a few improvements I’d like to see:
1. I sometimes have an issue when I add mnemonic notes. My keyboard slides up from the bottom but hides the note-taking area and the save button. So I have to type RETURN over and over until those buttons come into view.
2. It would be nice for the buttons, currently at the bottom, to be moved up higher. This includes the buttons for next card, review card, and re-do card. The “next” button is in the very far bottom right corner, and it’s kind of hard to hit. It hurts my hand.

These are both minor issues and don’t really impede my use, but it would be nice to see them improved in future versions. Great app so far!
