About
Do real jobs. Earn real screen time.
Job Jar turns screen time into something your children earn rather than something you argue about. You decide the jobs and what each one is worth. Your child ticks one off when it's done, you get a notification, and one tap puts the minutes in their bank.
IT ACTUALLY LOCKS THE APPS
On iPhone and iPad, Job Jar uses Apple's own Screen Time controls to keep the apps you choose closed until time has been earned. When your child starts a session those apps unlock for exactly the minutes they earned, then lock themselves again when the time runs out. Nothing here runs on the honour system.
HOW IT WORKS
• Set up jobs — homework, reading, tidying up, the dishes, anything you like
• Choose what each job is worth in minutes
• Your child ticks a job off when it's done
• You get a notification and approve it
• The minutes land in their bank, ready to spend
FOR YOUR CHILDREN
• Their own screen, with their time bank front and centre
• A plant that grows as the day's jobs are approved, and flowers when the last one is done
• Nine hand-drawn characters and six skin tones to make their own
• A clear countdown so they always know how long is left
• A gentle warning before time runs out, never an alarm
FOR YOU
• Approve or send back from your own phone, wherever you are
• A PIN keeps the parent area yours
• A daily spending limit, so a quiet Sunday can't become a lost Monday
• A cap on how much time can be banked up
• Add or take away minutes by hand whenever life calls for it
• Pause a job without deleting it
BUILT FOR FAMILIES, NOT FOR DATA
• No accounts, no sign-ups, no email addresses — not even yours
• No advertising anywhere in the app
• Nothing about your children is sold or shared
MORE THAN ONE DEVICE
Pair a parent's phone and a child's device with a short family code. Jobs, approvals and minutes stay in step across both.
A NOTE ON APP BLOCKING
App blocking uses Apple's Screen Time (Family Controls) and is set up on the child's device, in the parent area under Device. You choose which apps and categories are covered. Job Jar never sees which apps your child uses — iOS handles the locking, and only tells the app whether the lock is on.
