About

Journeys is an accurate, cited, offline atlas of the historical record in the Bible. The timeline runs from Creation through the patriarchs, the exodus and conquest, the kings and prophets, the battles of the Old Testament, the birth and ministry of Jesus, and on to the apostles. It is biblically, geographically, historically, and archaeologically grounded, with a denominationally neutral stance. Whether you are studying Scripture, teaching a class, or exploring ancient history, Journeys turns that record from a flat paper map into an interactive, cited exploration. ◆ SIX WAYS TO EXPLORE 1. ROUTE TRACING Follow animated journeys on the ancient map. Trace the patriarchs, the exodus, the conquest, the kings, and the ministry routes of Jesus across Galilee and Judea, then Paul (First, Second, Third Missionary Journeys, and the journey to Rome). View terrain, travel legs, and stop-by-stop historical accounts. 2. SANDBOX ATLAS Freely explore the ancient Mediterranean and the lands of the biblical narrative with toggleable historical layers. Inspect Roman roads, trade lanes, province borders, and ancient settlements with rich topographical context. 3. BIBLICAL TIMELINE One chronology of the biblical historical record, from Creation through the apostolic age. Each era has its own scale, so the patriarchs are not squeezed onto the same ruler as Passion week. Parallel lanes show who was alive at the same moment: journeys, patriarchs and other figures, prophets, kings, apostles, the battles and conquests of the Old Testament, and archaeological finds. The life of Jesus is listed on that chart, not folded into a single bar: • Birth and boyhood — Bethlehem (c. 6–4 BC), the flight to Egypt, the return to Nazareth after Herod's death, and the temple visit at age twelve. • The ministry — baptism, the Galilean ministry, the journey to Jerusalem, and Passion week through the resurrection appearances and the Ascension, in the order the Gospels record. Events that share a year window are listed one by one. The crucifixion stays AD 30 or AD 33, and both are shown. 4. EMBEDDED BIBLE READER Read Scripture alongside the map. Journeys bundles complete public-domain texts (King James Version and American Standard Version) in a fast, on-device SQLite database. Tap place names in Scripture to jump straight to their location on the map. 5. GUIDED LESSONS Take step-by-step historical and geographical deep dives into biblical events, examining cultural context, topography, and archaeological artifacts. 6. INTERACTIVE QUIZZES Test and deepen your knowledge of ancient geography, apostolic travels, and historical backgrounds. ◆ GROUNDED IN ARCHAEOLOGY & PRIMARY SOURCES • Cited Claims: Every site and route stop is anchored to primary historical texts (Scripture, Josephus, Tacitus, Roman itineraries) and excavation records. • Transparent Confidence: Clear ratings (high, medium, disputed, legendary) distinguish between consensus identifications and contested traditions. • Rival Candidates Shown: When scholars disagree on a biblical site's exact location, Journeys displays the rival candidates on the map rather than guessing. • Rigorous Sources: Grounded in standard scholarly gazetteers including Pleiades, DARE, and archaeological reports. ◆ 100% OFFLINE BY DESIGN Journeys works anywhere — in church, in the classroom, on flights, or in the field: • Complete 10 MB on-device SQLite Scripture database included. • Offline vector map tiles bundled directly inside the app. • No internet connection required after install. • No account creation, no sign-in, and zero cloud dependencies. ◆ PRIVACY FIRST • No data collected. • No data shared. • No tracking or third-party ad networks. • Completely free of advertisements. Discover the ancient world as it was traveled. Explore Journeys today!
