Not clear how many kanji are in the full version

Is it the full 2000 jouyou kanji? Or is it less? Update: Developer clarified that it if full Jouyou plus more in the app description, cant ask for more than that, thank you!

Fair question, and as of version 3.0 the answer is: more. Every school-taught kanji and beyond — 3,000 in total, all JLPT levels, with audio and stroke-order diagrams. The description now says so explicitly.

L’app est bien réalisée avec pleins de bonnes idées. La maj 3.0 passe à 3000 kanjis. Malheureusement la plupart des kanjis n’ont pas de dessin afin d’aider à mémoriser le kanji ce qui était justement l’intérêt de cette application. Il faut les importer nous-mêmes.

Around 250 kanji not enough

The app is amazing. Very helpful for new learners. However I was disappointed to see it has only around 250 Kanji to study. I was expecting all kanjis like 2000+. Also There is no option to categorize Kanjis in JLPT levels. This could be an awesome app. What a waste.

Great news: version 3.0 grew the app from ~250 to the 3,000 most used Japanese kanji — every school grade and every JLPT level from N5 to N1, with example words and audio for each. Lessons are organized by theme, but all JLPT levels are covered, and you can build custom lessons too. Free for everyone who unlocked lessons — we'd love to hear what you think now. info@oktoid.org

I really like the demo versiok but can i learn how mant kanjis are involved in fully paid version?

How do you add multiple Kanji to your own test?

Every time I would like to create a custom test, I can only select one Kanji and then start the test. Is it supposed to work like this. Would also like to see a bigger database of Kanji in the future.

Best app with limited levels

This is great app, still I m not giving 5 star due to limited N5& N4 level content. Hope they add more levels and more vocabs.

A lovely app you can easily practice your writing if you are a beginner. It also has sample sentences.

a good app

for a beginner it's great, since many like me don't want to learn all the kanji, just the most relevant ones, and this app is perfect for that. With 246 kanji you can read 62% of all kanji in japanese newspapers, enough to pass your N5 or N4 like the app description says

App okay, sound is awful

Can’t find a way to turn off or turn down the music sounds. Even with the phone on silent you get full sound in the app. Annoying.

Super appli pour mémoriser les Kanji

Très malin d’associer des images aux Kanji pour les mémoriser mais après avoir appris les 18 premiers Kanji gratuits de l’application j’ai souhaité avoir accès au reste en les achetant mais impossible d’y accéder ! Cette fonction bug et c’est bien dommage car ce concept d’appli m’a vraiment plu

Eigentlich eine super App die sehr liebevoll gemacht ist und super zum lernen der Kanji. Doch leider stürzt sie bei mir alle 10 Minuten ab, was sehr ärgerlich ist, da ich mir auch die Vollversicherung gekauft habe.

Nice design, but not worth the money

The design is very cool and fun, but in the demo version it doesn’t explain at all how extensive the library is, what kind of features are offered, what settings you have etc. I wouldn’t pay 500Yen for an app if I don’t know what I will get.

What even is this app?

I came here to learn kanji but when I open the app I see a zoomed in picture of a textbook page, but such that you can only see half of the page. It doesn’t allow you to scrub across the page either. It does, however allow you to scroll down to what appears to be a child’s artwork, which is quite cute but not at all helpful for learning Japanese.

What you saw was the community area: learners share photos and drawings as memory aids for each kanji, so a textbook snapshot or a child-like doodle can appear there — that's user content, not the app itself. The app is study cards (readings, example words with audio, stroke-order diagrams) plus quizzes where you draw the kanji yourself. Version 3.0 now covers 3,000 kanji. Give it another look — and info@oktoid.org if it's still confusing.
