About

A handwriting practice app for Japanese kanji. Set a time limit and write kanji neatly, one square at a time. Instead of only marking right or wrong, it checks how closely and legibly the character was written. Choose a school year (grades 1-6) and a session length (5, 10, 15, or 20 minutes). Kanji for that grade appear at random. Write in the square with Apple Pencil or a finger, then tap Check to see a neatness score from 0 to 100%. Turn the model on to show a faint guide character in the square. Trace it to learn the shape, or turn it off to write from memory. If you are unsure of the stroke order, open the guide from the practice screen and check the character one stroke at a time. The session timer pauses while the guide is open, and your unfinished writing and current question stay in place. Viewing the guide does not affect the neatness score. Characters written very neatly appear less often for a while, and characters that need work come back after a few more items. Score 90% or higher three times on a character to master it, so weaker characters get more practice naturally. The results screen shows the percentage written neatly, along with the characters written very neatly and those worth practicing again. Use it for five minutes before homework or ten minutes on a day off. It also works well for home study and after-school programs. Covers all 1,026 kanji from the Japanese elementary school grade-level list. Grade 1: 80 / Grade 2: 160 / Grade 3: 200 / Grade 4: 202 / Grade 5: 193 / Grade 6: 191 One-time purchase. No ads or additional purchases. Note: the app interface is in Japanese. Privacy: handwriting and practice records are processed and stored only on the device. Nothing is sent off-device.
