About

Stop forgetting kanji. KanjiCards anchors every Japanese character to a vivid mnemonic in your own language — then drills exactly the parts you keep missing. HOW IT WORKS Every kanji has four attributes — meaning, onyomi, kunyomi, and writing. KanjiCards tracks each one separately. You build a mnemonic association for the character (or let AI draft one), and the app trains the attributes you keep getting wrong, not the ones you've already nailed. MNEMONIC ANCHORS Build a short story for each kanji where the readings hide inside real words in your native language and the components become objects in a scene. The story is the anchor — once it's wired in, recall is automatic. Write your own or have AI generate one to start from. The method draws on three findings from memory research: • Keyword Mnemonic (Atkinson, 1975) — foreign sounds embedded in familiar words • Bizarreness Effect (McDaniel & Einstein, 1986) — strange imagery resists forgetting • Incongruity Resolution — absurdity sticks when it's wired into the story's logic TARGETED TRAINING The algorithm tracks which of the four attributes you're weakest on per kanji. Reviews surface those gaps first. No manual flagging, no deck micromanagement — the system already knows where you slip. Daily streaks and quests keep the habit alive. AI LESSONS Pick any set of kanji and generate a custom lesson: • Words containing those characters, on a topic you choose • Example sentences with translations • Three difficulty levels (Low, Mid, Pro) • Grammar topics you can require in the examples • One tap to generate more sentences PHOTO LESSONS Photograph a textbook page.
