Not compatible with brand new Kenwood dmx8709s!!! Never buying Kenwood again!!!
Lame Sauce
Phone has to be connected with app open to display photos.
I spent an hour “uploading” photos from my phone to my Wife’s stereo, only to find that when I unplug my phone the photos go away.
I can do this again on my Wife’s phone, but she’ll have to open the app or keep it open to see photos.
Kinda like the stereo doesn’t have a Storage location of its own.

Outdated and archaic
It feels like KENWOOD is stuck in the 90’s. Their receiver UI looks like PC visuals from the days of Netscape and dial up internet. Their apps are right there with it. I can only assume they never actually hired any UI artists and let their 60 + year old 1970’s programmers come up with these terrible interfaces. Friggin yuck.
Otherwise, it does indeed import photos, but apparently there is no way to edit what part of the photo shows up, so… meh.

Not working
Gives the ability to add photos to the app. App states connect to the receiver. Not sure why it’s not detecting the phone. Brand new kenwood unit and latest iOS
