Kern now marks how far you have come through a book. Reach the halfway point, or see every card in a book, and Kern says so. Finish one and you can share it. Kern is also better at building cards for books it knows less well, and it now knows many more novels, so fewer searches come back empty. New to Kern? You can start from a short list of books people have actually read, and your first cards are ready straight away. Kern now starts you with one free book instead of two. The book you pick during setup is yours to keep.
