About

You spent ten hours reading a book. A month later, the sharpest ideas are fuzzy, characters blur, and the moments that moved you are already slipping away. Kern keeps the books you finish alive. Add a title and it becomes a deck of sharp, swipeable cards. For non-fiction, Kern brings back the key ideas, examples, arguments, and surprising connections. For fiction, Kern revisits the characters, relationships, turning points, themes, motifs, and settings that made the story stay with you. Then spaced repetition takes over, resurfacing cards as the book begins to fade. HOW IT WORKS 1. Add a book you’ve finished. Just the title - no uploads, highlights, or homework. 2. Kern creates a deck designed to bring that specific book back to mind. 3. Swipe for a few minutes a day. Cards from across your library interleave, while neglected books gradually return to the surface. FICTION AND NON-FICTION Fiction and non-fiction receive different kinds of cards because remembering a novel is not the same as remembering a business book. Fiction cards contain full-book spoilers and are intended for books you’ve already finished. WHY READERS PICK KERN - Cards for both fiction and non-fiction - Your whole library in one interleaved feed - Interactive cards that check what actually stuck - Original, paraphrased cards—not excerpts or a substitute for reading - Review anywhere, fully offline after a deck is created - No account and no sign-up THE WALL Every book you add lives on the Wall. Review it and it stays inked. Neglect it and you can watch it fade. Fiction and non-fiction are clearly marked, and mixed libraries can open a feed for either type. No streaks, guilt trips, or leaderboards—just an honest picture of what is still in your head. PRICING Your first two books are free, with no payment required. Continue with Kern Plus for unlimited books, or unlock an individual book with a one-time purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel them in your App Store account settings. What's New in Kern

1.2

July 21, 2026

Kern now remembers fiction, too. Add novels and revisit their characters, relationships, turning points, themes, motifs, settings, and foreshadowing, not just a plot summary. The Wall now clearly marks fiction and non-fiction books. Once your library contains both, you can open a feed dedicated to either type. We also simplified the card-generation screen and refined the Wall’s Saved and All Cards controls.
