Keyaway: Screen Time Key

Every screen time app has the same hole in it: the off switch is on the phone you are trying to put down. You tap "15 more minutes." You flip the toggle. You win the argument with yourself, again. Keyaway moves the key out of the phone. The app makes you a key — a code on a sheet of paper. You print it and put it somewhere you have to stand up for: the front door, a kitchen drawer, a roommate's desk. When you reach for a locked app, Keyaway holds it shut. To get in, you walk to your key and scan it with the camera. If you don't feel like walking, you didn't really need to open it. That's the whole idea. Keyaway makes that annoying, not impossible — and it tells you so on the first screen instead of pretending otherwise. A new key takes 12 hours to start working. If it were instant, the lock would mean nothing. Emergency passes cannot be bought. Three a month, and that is all there is. PRIVATE BY CONSTRUCTION No account. No server. No ads, no analytics, no tracking. iOS never even tells Keyaway which apps you picked — it hands over tokens that cannot be read back as names.
