FAQ

What is Keypo?

Keypo is a self-custody system designed to securely back up your crypto seed phrase. It splits your seed phrase into encrypted pieces across your own devices, eliminating single points of failure like paper backups or password managers.

How does Keypo protect my seed phrase?

Keypo uses Shamir's Secret Sharing to split your seed phrase into three pieces. Each piece is encrypted using your device's highest security features, such as Face ID on iPhone and Touch ID on Mac, and stored locally. You can recover your full seed phrase with any two of the three pieces.

Does Keypo store my seed phrase in the cloud?

No, Keypo is designed with no cloud synchronization. Your encrypted seed phrase shares never leave your devices, ensuring maximum privacy and security. This means your secrets are not vulnerable to cloud breaches.

What devices are required to use Keypo?

To use Keypo, you need a Mac with Touch ID running macOS 14.0 (Sonoma) or later, and an iPhone with Face ID running iOS 17.6 or later. A YubiKey 5 Series is optional but recommended for enhanced security.

Can Keypo be used with any cryptocurrency wallet?

Yes, Keypo works with any BIP-39 seed phrase. This includes popular assets like Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, and thousands of others. If your wallet provided a 12, 18, or 24-word seed phrase, Keypo can protect it.

What else can Keypo protect besides seed phrases?

In addition to crypto seed phrases, Keypo can also protect other sensitive text data up to 1,024 characters. This includes recovery codes from services like 1Password, Authy, and iCloud, as well as API keys and private keys.

Is Keypo free to use?

Yes, Keypo is completely free to use. There are no in-app purchases or subscription fees associated with the application. The focus is on providing a secure and accessible solution for seed phrase backup.

How often is Keypo updated?
