Exactly what I was looking for
KidKino is different. You just load your own videos and that's it. I put in clips of grandparents, some videos from our last vacation, and a few silly videos I took of our dog. My daughter loves it and when the video ends, it just... ends. No "up next" suggestions, no ads, nothing trying to keep her watching.
The interface is super simple. My toddler can navigate it herself, which is great because she feels independent but I know she's only seeing stuff I picked out. I also appreciate that it works with Guided Access so she can't accidentally exit the app and start texting my boss or something (it's happened before).
It's a small app and it does one thing really well. If you're a parent who wants screen time to feel a little more intentional and a lot less chaotic, this is worth checking out. I finally feel like I'm in control of what my kid watches instead of some algorithm deciding for me.
Only thing I'd love to see is maybe folder organization for different types of videos, but honestly it works great as is. Five stars from this tired parent.
