Not for Non-Beginners

This helped me get into the game and understand it a bit, but the tutorial is lacking and there is no option to turn off the hints in the game for what to match or do next. Kinda disappointing but still using it…

Clean, clear, fun koi koi

Love the tutorial, which was super helpful to learn the game.

Would love to see an update where the special cards collected in the top left and bottom right could be enlarged so you can see/read them more clearly.

Thanks so much for the kind words! It's great to hear you're enjoying playing with Kiki. We'll make note of your idea. Thanks for the suggestion. Hope you're doing well. Have a great day!

Fun Koi-Koi App!

This is probably the best Koi-Koi games in the App Store! Not the most feature-rich, but the learning options are useful and the gameplay and graphics are excellent. It’s also the only one I’m aware of that isn’t a thinly veiled cash grab or advertising and tracker delivery vehicle.

Works and looks great on my Vision Pro!

The graphics are good–way more colorful and friendly than what you usually find on a koi koi app–and the controls fit well with the Vision Pro’s hand gestures. I am looking forward to trying this app with friends and family! Definitely recommend this to anyone who wants a fun koi koi app. It would be even nicer if it were localized in other languages such as French.

Pretty good, but not perfect

This is a decent version of koi koi, but it seems to be in dire need of some rules tweaking and settings. Currently there are no month yakus in the game, for instance. I also wish you could just tap cards instead of just dragging them… and I wish there was a landscape mode.

There is another review that complains about there being no sound in the game, but this is untrue! The game has some nice calm music and sounds, BUT you have to turn off the silent switch on your phone for sound to work :).

Hi there! Thanks so much for playing Kiki! Glad to hear you've been enjoying it. There are a lot of rule variations out there, so we tried to pick a good simple set that'd work for most players. But we'll definitely make note of your suggestion and see about including it in a future version. And as for tapping cards and alternate orientations... well, they might be coming in the near future. 😄 Thanks again for writing in. If you have any other issues/questions, don't hesitate to reach out to us at support@howseven.com. Hope you're doing well. Have a great day!

nice implementation

however its hard to strategize when you cannot see chaff collected. if you could at least see the by holding a finger over them or something, would make this my main hanafuda app.

Nice implementation of the game

Cool little game, pretty easy to work out how to play this version. I wanted a two player game which my other koi kois don’t have - so this game is great for that. One issue though is the cards aren’t as nice as in other apps so it’s not always easy to work out which card is which and that’s a shame particularly as I want to play with a friend who is unfamiliar with the game or card faces. Also the cards that you have won aren’t very well displayed - the sets that are shown are very small and you can’t see the Basic (kasu) cards at all as the app just lists the number you’ve won and doesn’t display the card faces. This is an issue when you are trying to remember which cards have been played and other koi koi apps do a better job of showing you the full field of play. I also like it when the game shows the open hands at the end of a game so that you can see whether you made a good decision in continuing or stopping play but this app doesn’t do that which is a shame. But the play is challenging enough so that sometimes the game wins, sometimes I do (another reviewer said the computer player was too simple but I haven’t found that to be true) and I’m really enjoying the game. Plus the developer responded to my comments - always a plus - so I’m upping my stars to a full 5. PS Developer: would it be possible to have a stats section so you can see a record of wins and losses? Thanks.

2023 iOS 16 update: Still works perfectly under iOs 16 and still loving playing it. Thanks! :)

How seven Now

This has been my favourite game for many years. I’ve played both easy then hard options. I used to win enough times to want to go back, but not now even in the easy level I rarely win a game so it’s delete and goodbye for me, sorry you changed the game so much

Not bad requires more scoring options

more rules options would make it more flexible and player oriented, such as ability to switch of double scoring, scoring for month round etc.

Probability matrix gives computer the advantage

I have my own deck to play hanafuda and I’ve never received Moon/Cherry Cups on first draw three games in a row. Also the computer receives more matches when drawing from the deck. As I have been playing hanafuda for over a decade I can still win most matches but having a play against a score of 30+ is quite difficult on the third hand after only 3 draws. I can’t recreate that scoring opportunity with my own deck.

Love it!

Well-designed and intuitive tutorial, the game itself is my go-to app for a mentally challenging diversion. I only wish there was a way I could re-play certain hands to see how different decisions would have played out. This would help me get better from here on.

Great way to learn!

My son has a deck of Hanafuda cards. Written Koi-Koi instructions are okay but not quite clear to a newbie. This game is awesome at showing you how to play! However, the ability to flip the phone and show what you have for sets (someone else mentioned this) doesn’t appear to be happening for me. It would be nice to have a zoomed image of what I have and maybe month suits in the help
menu or somewhere handy. Either way, I am learning how to play! Just repetitively trying will get your brain recognizing the sets. It’s very fun. I’m glad I got this game. I would love to see more Hanafuda games like this, with an awesome tutorial. Keep up the awesome work guys! I think it’s wonderful to bring this game to more people by having an app like this that teaches and makes it fun.

Hi there! Thanks for the kind words. We're glad to hear you're enjoying Kiki. Ah, yes. We did move the set reference to a new place when 2.0 came out. It's now accessible by tapping the button with the cards/question mark on the left side of the game. But we're always looking for things to improve. So, I'll make a note and see if we can make it even better in the future! Thanks again for playing. If you ever need anything or have any questions, email us at support@howseven.com or check out our website. Hope you're doing well. Have a great day!

Online multiplayer please!

We love this game and this version. You have one of the best versions out there! We’d love an online multiplayer option so we can play with each other while being apart. We’d be willing to pay!!

Need online multiplayer

I’m new to Koi-Koi. Having played it in Yakuza and have Koi-Koi Japan (cost a couple bucks and has online multiplayer mode) on Steam. I was hooked so I was looking for a mobile version.

This game’s UI is well designed. The AI seems to be good on hard. However, there is no sound for me. I tried restarting my phone, uninstalling and reinstalling the app but still no sound. Yes, I can listen to music while playing but part of the experience is for the game’s music to pump up when you choose to Koi-Koi.

For a game like this to not have online play feels very incomplete. It does have a local 2 player mode using the one phone.

Hi there! Thanks so much for playing Kiki. Glad to hear you've liked the game so far, but sorry to hear you're having audio trouble. Would you mind emailing what device/iOS version you're using to support@howseven.com so we can try to fix that up for you? Hope you're doing well. Have a great day!

Wireless Multiplayer Please

This app is a lot of fun and very helpful at teaching you how to play! I got real cards as a gift but was having trouble getting the rules down. After playing this I feel like a master lol! My gf also got the app and it’s lots of fun playing two player on the go! Would be amazing if they added wireless multiplayer to allow you to play with people who also purchased the app on there phone!

Keeps crash halfway through a round against hard opponent

When i play and easy opponent on twelve months game it works fine. But when i play against a hard opponent in a twelve month game it keeps crashing. Not cool.

Elegant, Well-Designed Koi Koi App

Perfectly designed. Everything runs smooth, looks great, and the AI seems good. The only thing that could make it better is live multiplayer support but that is a whole different can or worms. $1.99 is totally worth it to not have annoying ads or buggy crashes like a lot of the other Koi Koi games on the app store.

Fun Game with fast response from developer

This app has helped me learn the suits & techniques so I can join in Hanafuda games with friends. The developer responded within a day to one of my questions. The game is a winner!

Used to love this game...

I used to love to play this game while listening to audiobooks and music. But now it doesn’t let me play my own audio while I play Koi-Koi... It’s sad, this was a really fun way to keep my hands busy.

Fun game

I used to play this with my Mom as a kid but we called it Sakura. Same game and after playing this game a few days I am picking it up quickly and learning it as I go along. Perfect game for beginners or relearning the game (like me). Great graphics but I do hope that we could have different theme sets or maybe change the background. I will add this on my Moms phone so hopefully we will get to play against friends also.
