Kiku App: Good idea, Lacking execution
I like the idea of the app, but I found that there was no real way for the app to know what type of content I wanted to see, so I just kept seeing random things which made it less enjoyable, so that was a big deal for me. Also the speech to text accuracy is defnitely lacking, there are many times where the word is wrong or diffrent to what the person actually said. That and there should be an easier way for people who already know many words in Japanese to be able to siphon through them. I had to manually tell the app that I “learned” them before and it became really tedious, maybe if i could choose “learned” on the side then press on the words i want to mark as that, then press on it again to choose “familiar” or something and then press on all the words that apply, kind of like a paint system, because as it stands it’s just way too slow. I wish there was a way to see the words you see the most/you press on the most, so that way you can know to go back to them more often.

Incredibly helpful
The app has been incredibly easy to use and very helpful being able to click on each individual word and look back at it later!! I’ve also not found any issues within the app in terms of translation or they’re being a word missed. It’s also really nice with learning natural Japanese and how to use particles and the sentence structure. 10/ 10 recommend this. It is really nice for easy and quick learning. It’s doesn’t feel like you’re learning out of a text book!!!!

Very nice.
I’m pretty sure you need to pay for this, but I understand they need to make money and I’d rather just pay than suffer through ads! This app has NO ads, and is very helpful for Japanese. I just want more content to be added. Maybe even a way to add my own clips would be nice?
Concept good but incorrect
Very first feed video had the subject marker は as "ha" and not "wa". I don't trust it.
Really great Japanese Learning App
Kiku is a wonderful tool to learning the Japanese language! It's become one of my favourite language learning apps with so much potential for growth.
I’ve found it genuinely helpful for remembering vocabulary and learning Japanese characters, and the app itself is simple and easy to use.
The developer is also fantastic at communicating with users, listening to feedback, and actually implementing suggestions to improve the quality and usability of the app.
It’s clear there’s a lot of care going into Kiku Japanese, and I’m excited to see how it continues to develop.

Great way to learn
Really cool app I love the design and the explanations are top tier, it’s not just a dictionary definition, it’s well put. However the subtitles sometimes don’t line up, for instance if the person takes a break from talking the subtitles keep moving on which is a bit annoying, overall great app.

I’ve felt stuck trying to memorize the alphabet, and this has literally changed the game for me! Honestly I’ve learned more Japanese since I downloaded the app, than 6 months on any other app. 100% recommend!

Don’t use duolingo
Instead use Kiku. I recommend giving it a go. I was doubtful at first. But i was pleasantly surprised! Love it!
Complicated and a little glitchy
I see how the concept could work but the app is glitchy and isn’t beginner friendly all of the videos were moving to fast.
Great App for a Fair Price
I see people complaining about the the pay wall but this app is definitely worth the money. You even get a 7 day free trial that you can cancel at any time. For about $50 a year which is like $4 a month you get access to videos with word time syncing, ai grammar breakdowns, example sentences, definitions, the different pronunciations of a word and auto generated flash cards that you can review at anytime whenever you click on a new word. Another feature that I love is that there a watch history / save feature so if you accidentally close the app you can find the video you were watching
again. Another awesome thing is that everytime you review a word it’s color progresses from
white (new) to dark orange (mastered) through multiple stages. One thing I do have to note is that sometimes the app will close when clicking on a word while scrolling. Another thing is that sometimes the AI description won’t generate but there’s an easy fix. Just click on the definition button next to the AI one and click back. It should be fixed after doing this 1-3 times. Overall a great app and I highly recommend it 🔥

One of the best apps for me
This app is really good for people that use tiktok and instagram reels as they doom scroll a lot on tiktok and reels and this app uses that scrolling feature but for learning Japanese language. This app provides different short form content of Japanese language and has the translations and how to say it aswell as the grammar too. Honestly one of the most underrated apps I e used for learning a language. This will get big with time and more people coming towards the app. 10/10

Needs a free version or one-time purchase
Saw this app on YouTube and thought it looked pretty cool, but of course I should’ve known it’s another app locked behind a monthly subscription. We really are to the point where you will own nothing and be happy about it. I would consider using this app if there was a free version that ran ads or had limited functionality, or if the app was a one time purchase rather than a subscription. It’s simply not something worth paying for monthly.
