About

Kiln turns your meetings into the work that comes out of them — entirely on your device. Record a meeting (or import an existing audio file) and Kiln produces a clean, speaker-attributed transcript in your language, then fires it into the artifact you actually need: a quick summary, detailed notes, action items, sprint-ready Jira stories, a technical-decision log, formal meeting minutes, a follow-up email, or release notes. Nothing ever leaves your iPhone. There is no cloud, no account, no subscription, and no analytics. Your recordings, transcripts, and reports stay in the app's private sandbox on your device — delete a meeting and its audio is gone with it. PRIVATE BY CONSTRUCTION • 100% on-device — transcription, speaker separation, and report generation all run locally • No account, no sign-in, no subscription, no tracking, no ads • Works fully offline once set up CAPTURE • Record with pause/resume, a live waveform, and a breathing timer • Import MP3, M4A, or WAV • Leave the title blank and Kiln names the meeting from its own words UNDERSTAND • A speaker-separated transcript you can search, filter by speaker, edit inline, and play back tap-to-seek • On-device name suggestions: Kiln reads the introductions and proposes real names, each backed by a quote from the transcript, applied only after you confirm GENERATE — 8 report types • Quick Summary · Detailed Notes · Action Items · Jira Stories · Technical Decisions · Meeting Minutes · Email Draft · Release Notes • Reports write themselves on screen as they generate • Export as Markdown or a paginated PDF, copy, or share — and save the original audio recording IN YOUR LANGUAGE • Record or import in English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Chinese (Mandarin), Japanese, or Korean • The transcript, the auto-generated title, the speaker names, and every report come back in that same language — generated on your iPhone, not translated • Kiln's own interface is localized into all nine languages too — set it independently of your device in Settings → App Language, and dates and durations follow your choice • Language models download once from Apple and are shared with your device BUILT FOR ENGINEERS The transcript is the commodity; the artifact is the product. Kiln is shaped for people who leave a meeting owing engineering deliverables — stories, decisions, owners, and risks — not generic notes. REQUIREMENTS • Recording, transcription, and speaker separation: any Apple Silicon Mac, or iPhone 11 or later • On-device report generation requires Apple Intelligence (iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 16 or 17, or an M1 or later Mac/iPad). On devices without Apple Intelligence, Kiln tells you plainly and everything except report generation keeps working. • Available in nine languages — see "In your language," above.

What's New in Kiln

4.0.0

August 26, 2026

Kiln now speaks your language. • The whole interface is localized into nine languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil), Simplified Chinese, Japanese and Korean. • Pick Kiln's language independently of your device, in Settings → App Language. Dates and durations follow it too. • The Lock Screen recording banner is localized as well. • Update notices now appear as soon as a new version is live, instead of waiting up to a day, and Software Update moved to the top of Settings. • A calmer way to rate Kiln after a report finishes — asked once, and never again if you decline. • Clearer reporting when a device can't run Apple's on-device speech models: Kiln says so once, plainly, instead of marking every language unavailable with no reason.
