About
Kiln Notes is a firing-curve notebook for potters. Each firing is one page: clay, glaze, atmosphere, stages, cooling, and how the glaze came out. Temperatures are written targets, not kiln readings. The app does not connect to or control a kiln.
WHAT YOU RECORD
• Ramp, soak, and cool stages with target °C, plan minutes, and actual minutes
• Ramp rate in °C/h between neighboring points
• A quartz cue near 573°C so you can slow down on purpose
• Fire kind (glaze, bisque, tile), shelf, load count, and atmosphere
• Result stamps: underfired, on point, overfired
• Flaw marks: pinhole, crawl, run, crack, blister
• Cooling notes and a note for the next firing
WHAT YOU CAN REUSE
• Compare firings of the same glaze, or the same clay + glaze
• Overlay the last on-point curve as a ghost on the current page
• Pin a curve and copy it into a new firing
• A one-line repeat card: peak, peak soak, cool, atmosphere
HOW TIMING WORKS
Watch a stage while you fire. The book shows elapsed time against your plan. When the plan is up, you mark the stage done and move on. It is a notebook cue, not a kitchen timer and not kiln control.
