What's New in KindChat
1.1.13
October 14, 2026
New in 1.1.13 More protection for your privacy: the screen lock now hides more of KindChat. A message only counts as read once you actually have the chat in front of you. Text you have started typing, or a reply, stays in the right chat when you switch to another chat from a notification. If you had turned on "Help improve moderation", it is now off: its text now correctly says "pseudonymised" instead of "anonymised". You can decide again under Settings → Protection. If you turn it off, it now shows as off right after a restart too. The crisis card appears in more situations and in more languages, and "Talk to someone" opens your contacts from any chat. The card now also appears for English sentences written with an apostrophe, such as "I'm", and for more German sentences of despair, and when it holds back a text you typed, your words stay in the message field while the chat is open. With a German phone number, Help and crisis lines has a new "Violence and threats" section with free, anonymous numbers. Moderation recognises more insults and threats, including in Portuguese, Spanish, Dutch, English and German. Cries for help that repeat what was said to you are held back by mistake less often. As in chat, a Pulse post that was held back now says why and can be reported with "This was fine". An iPhone in the background rings sooner. In groups, messages once again reach members whose safety number has changed, for example after reinstalling. The buttons in "Contacts" and "Chat" now show their names under their icons, and "How KindChat works" shows each button it explains as it looks in the app. When someone redeems your invite code or accepts your contact request, they now appear in your contacts at once while KindChat is open. With large text, names and titles are no longer cut off after a few letters. In the sheet for a held-back message, "Edit" and "Discard" stay within reach at large text sizes. A photo that failed to load can be reloaded with a tap. A photo or video that could not be sent on a weak connection, or because the app was closed, stays in the chat marked as not sent for up to seven days, even after a restart, and a tap sends it again; large videos now get through more reliably on a slow connection. Plus clearer wording in all ten languages.
