About
Follow the news on the questions you care about, without reading everything. Kittiwake watches a topic for you, scores every new story against your question and turns the day's coverage into one signal from 0 to 100, so you see at a glance whether things are moving.
ASK A QUESTION, GET A SIGNAL
• Write a topic, a few keywords and the question you want answered, such as "Is there growing backlash over the new phone's price?".
• Kittiwake scores each story on how closely it matches your topic and question, and leaves out what is off topic.
• Apple Intelligence on your iPhone reads each story and writes a short summary. Without it, Basic mode scores stories by your keywords and how many outlets carry them.
• The signal and its 8-week line show where the story is heading, with the week's change next to it.
• Not sure where to start? Pick one of twelve starter watches and make it yours.
ONLY WHAT IS NEW
• Unread stories carry a dot, and stories found since your last check sit at the top.
• Mark one story or a whole topic as read.
ALERTS WHEN IT MATTERS
• Choose the alert score for each topic and get a notification when a story crosses it, at most five a day.
• A daily digest at the time you pick, and a weekly recap with the week's biggest mover.
SHARE WITHOUT THE NOISE
• Share a signal card: your question, the signal, the week's change and the 8-week line, as an image.
• Send a watch to a friend with a link; Kittiwake always asks before adding it.
• Copy a brief for yourself, or send a summary as Markdown or by mail.
HOME SCREEN, WIDGETS AND SHORTCUTS
• Widgets in two sizes show the signal and its line.
• Shortcuts and Siri can read a topic's signal or copy its brief.
• Stories are refreshed in the background when iOS allows, and always when you open the app.
YOUR SOURCES
• News search feeds, the GDELT news database and any RSS or Atom feed you add.
• Every story links to the publisher's own page.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
No account, no ads, no tracking, no analytics and no server of ours. Scoring happens on your device; the app only connects to the news sources you use, to fetch the latest stories.
Requires iOS 26 or later. Apple Intelligence is optional.
