About
The easiest way to build the vocabulary you need to understand Japanese: anime, shows, games, and everything in between.
How it works
Vignettes: Every word in Kizume is a vignette: a Japanese word paired with a purpose-built illustration and audio cue. Each image is designed to visually anchor the meaning of the word in your memory. When you see the word again, the image comes back with it. Sound, image, and meaning work together so each word sticks.
Spaced repetition: Kizume uses spaced repetition to schedule your reviews automatically. The algorithm knows how well you know each word and brings it back at the right time: frequently while it's fresh, then gradually spacing out as it solidifies. You tap through your reviews one at a time and the spacing adapts to you.
Your progress
No streaks. No XP. No vague scores. Kizume shows you exactly which words you know: a living grid of every word you've memorized and how far you have left to go. That's your real measure of progress.
The vocabulary is ordered by frequency of use in Japanese, starting with the words that appear most often. This means every word you learn has the highest possible impact on your comprehension. The further you get, the more you understand when you watch, read, or listen to Japanese.
Every word you memorize is also a collectible card with its own artwork. Your collection grows as your vocabulary does: a visible record of everything you've built.
