What's New in StitchEven

2.1.1

July 2, 2026

This update fixes buttonhole placement, so the first and last buttonholes now sit neatly near each edge and the rest are spaced evenly in between. Thanks for all your feedback, and happy knitting!

Worst app

This is the worst app. If I could get a refund, that would be great. I had to decrease 25 stitches over 259 stitches. Did all the instructions and ended up with 240 stitches. I took them all out and did it again. Still wrong! Don’t waste your money!!!!

Response from developer

Hi! I’m really sorry you had such a frustrating experience with the previous version of the app. The decrease calculator has now been fully updated and corrected, and the new version gives accurate stitch counts even for larger projects like yours. Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback — it helped us identify what needed to be fixed. If you’d like a refund, Apple handles all refunds directly through the App Store, and you can request it via reportaproblem.apple.com. If you decide to try the updated version, I hope it works much better for you. And if anything still feels unclear, you’re always welcome to reach out so we can help.

Easy way to evenly increase or decrease

This app is simple and intuitive to use. I wanted an app to calculate how to do the required number of increases or decreases evenly across the row and this does exactly that. I chose it to replace the app ‘Knit Evenly’ which was no longer offered on the App Store. This has the advantage of a built in counter that you can use to track the number of increases or decreases you have done. The only thing that would make it better is if it had one feature that Knit Evenly had - it offered two options. One was perfectly evenly spaced (as done in this app) and the other was not perfectly spaced but an easier sequence to remember and pretty close to evenly spaced.

Thanks for the thoughtful review, and I'm glad StitchEven filled the gap that Knit Evenly left behind. The second option you described is exactly what the latest update adds. Alongside the perfectly even distribution, you can now get a simpler sequence that's easier to remember and stays close to evenly spaced. Update to the newest version and you'll find it there. I'd genuinely like to hear how it works for you once you've tried it.

Does what it's supposed to.

No bells and whistles. Does exactly what it's supposed to. I'm a pattern designer and I use this with every pattern. Worth the price in my opinion.

Doesn’t work as promised

Fine for increases and decreases but not for buttonhole placement

Response from developer

It works for buttonhole placement if you use decreasing an instead of knitting 2 together you make the button. The buttonhole will then be evenly placed. Best regards Tone

Awesome!

This was exactly what I was looking for. I’m knitting a pattern that says, “inc/dec sts by 4 evenly across the row.” There an odd number of sts. I didn’t want to have to do the math. This is totally worth $3 to me since I haven’t decided if I like the pattern as written. I’m trying out changing the number of cast on stitches so that will change where I do the inc/dec.
