Worthless now

App hasnโ€™t been updated in 7 years and wonโ€™t run on most recent OS.

Why arenโ€™t you updating your app??

It is worthless now!!

UPDATE JUNE 14, 2017

I received eMail from the developers informing me that they were working on a 64-bit version. No info as to a completion date.

UPDATE JUNE 7, 2017

Needs update to 64-bit or it will no longer execute on any iOS device running iOS 11.

==============
Overall a very good reference app for knots and I've only used it a few minutes to look up the knots that gave me trouble when I was a scout.

I take a way 1 star because of the way the interface handles an orientation switch--when moving from horizontal to vertical or vice versa whatever knot you are looking at disappears and you are back at the main menu with the 'Categories' tab selected and no knots selected. It would be better if the app would lock orientation as the iPhone version does rather than return to the main menu on an iPad orientation switch. It is particularly frustrating when perusing knots by name. I know I could use the mechanical lock orientation switch on the iPad but I shouldn't have to. The app should be intelligent enough to keep the knot I am viewing when switching orientation.

Two UI changes I would like to see are 1) keep the currently selected knot highlighted in the left hand column as one scans through the panels; and 2) use some of the large amount of wasted real estate to show a thumbnail of the finished knot as it is shown in the last panel. When I am perusing knots I may know what I want based upon its function and appearance but not (no pun intended) know its name. Having a thumbnail shown would speed up the search.

Knot Basics, needs updating

The instructions are easy to follow, unlike many books. This is a very handy guide for those who want to learn the basics.

On the downside, there is very little information on the use of the knots. It has a search function, but with so little information, searching for a knot for a particular application can be frustrating if you don't already know which knot you need or what the knots are used for.

Also, there are no alternatives or variations shown. For example, the taughtline hitch is commonly used with a bight drawn through on the last step, creating a "quick release." Someone new to the knot would probably like to know that...

Also, the app has not had any updates or new knots for more than two years now.

Pictures too small

Have the iPhone app and wanted to have this on my iPad too. Figured since it said HD it would be better scaled but the pictures are still small so basically you pay $2.99 for a background image of some boards. Take my three bucks and actually do some upgrading on this please! Five stars waiting for you when you do.

Awesome!

Great App when just about every knot you'll ever need.
Please add the Miller Knot!

Disappointed with non-HD Pictures

I am disappointed that the HD version doesn't have HD pictures. I have the iPhone app that I use on my iPad and I actually prefer that since I can double the size of the iPhone app on my iPad. I would give the iPad version 5 stars if I could at least tap on a picture and go full screen with it.

Excellent help

I am a new scoutmaster . This has helped a lot! Wished I could email examples to troop boys in advance.

A few knots missing

Very good app. Add a Homer Rhodes knot under Fishing.

Worth while

Simple, straight forward with lots of content. Very happy with the quality of this app.

Awesome

This app has numerous high quality step by step photos that are super easy to follow. Highly recommended!

Same as iPhone app :-/

I have the iPhone version. I was hoping to see bigger graphics, maybe video. I think the graphics are the exact same photos as he iPhone app. The HD app doesn't take advantage of all of the extra iPad screen. Love the iPhone app. HD is only OK.

Nice App.

One of the best knot applications I've seen.

Simply Grand

A life-long, knot tying nut, I found this app wonderful. Each knot is laid out in a series of exploded view slides, with colored rope for bends (two ropes, for the un-initiated). Contains everything you would normally need for all applications. Could only be improved if they included a "Sheepshank Man'O'War", a personal favorite, and perhaps the original double sliding loop used by London Bobbies as restraints, before handcuffs were introduced.

Ok, but same as iphone version, save yourself some money

The knots and the explanations are good but I owned the iphone version and expected something more in the ipad version. It's the same thing and pictures just as small (i assume the same ones from the iphone version). Lots of dead space on the screen, so no real additional work. There are also knots replicated with different names, so not clear why they're shown as separate entries. I expected more.

Very good app!

I'm extremely pleased with this app. The pictures are clear and the instructional arrows are helpful.
I like the categorized design as well as the alphabetical listings.
The 'toggles' are slow but I can handle that.

Potential if developer doesn't stop updates

The green lines that look so helpful in the preview aren't on every step of every knot which can make some knots pretty confusing.

It's also not possible to show 2, 3 or 4 steps on screen at a time which would also make certain knots much easier to learn.

As it is, with certain knots you end up trying to follow the steps awkwardly going back and forth between two pictures.

It would also be nice if the step info was written on the picture so you don't have to examine the picture to see what was done. (this likely would not be necessary if the green helper line was available for every step of every knot)

So as it is it's a 3 star app. Lots of information and lots of knots, it just leaves a lot of work for the user, and this user prefers ease of use and convenience. I hope they issue an update.

Great visuals

I use this app for fishing knots and the interface is very clear and the knot descriptions are superb. Best of the knot apps I've used.

Rotate issues

When in landscape and rotating to portrait, the knot you were on goes away and you have to start all over. Please update!
