I’m actively supporting my community in LA and the IE, and many people—including students—have asked for more accessible resources. I shared KYRC with them, and they all found it incredibly helpful.
One student messaged me last night, saying he used it when his mom got pulled over. While the officer was preparing to approach their car, he quickly read through the guide and realized he had the right to ask why they were being detained. Since they weren’t given a clear reason, he kept questioning it. So he recorded because no response from officer, so he grabbed his mom’s phone and placed it in the cup holder to document the encounter.
When officer saw phones records he left her go with a warning and told her to not roll her stops. He sent me the recording!
