Ai Matching Gone Wrong
I used this app twice. The first date I was matched with someone who held moderate political views. Now listen, I described my ideal partner as someone who values human rights especially coming from a family of immigrants. Moderate felt like a clear mismatch. Also the photos of this match were somewhat fratty. I also described wanting a partner to build a serious connection with. Although, on the date it was apparent he had no intention of being in a serious relationship. There’s been two huge gaps in what I’ve described and what was presented but that’s Ai for you. Ai is not a real human listening and matching with care. It simply receives data and then by whatever system it utilizes, makes a “match”. Or mismatches in my case. This wasn’t better than any dating app and in some ways it’s worse. It does not display relationship type i.e. casual hookup or committed partnership. It’s definitely a modern approach that’s why I was intrigued but there are serious gaps to consider if you’re hoping for intentionality.
Lastly, I’ll just say since when did we require ai to book our dates? There is so much to be learned about how a person plans and where you choose to go (low effort - high effort) that will be a sneak preview of compatibility. Removing this aspect removes helpful information on a person and felt like the wrong move.

AI matchmaking, without the matches
Despite the exclusivity angle, once you make it in be prepared for an empty room. This app has few users. Save yourself the trouble of signing up as it’s a lot of work for no results.
Takes forever, zero results
I signed up for this app and did the AI conversation which ostensibly sets up your profile. Several months later, the app was still blank instead it was still looking for something for me. I am not a very picky guy. I get tons of matches on other apps. I live in San Francisco. There is not any shortage of people here. This app just doesn’t work like it says. They want you to invite friends, in order to pass every single hurdle, and they won’t even start looking for a match for you until after you invite your friends. I deleted the app. You are much better off just using Hinge or The League or something.

Did the onboarding 5 weeks ago and have been on the waitlist since ...
Pretty disappointed
Finished making my account like over a month ago and it still hasn’t been reviewed yet (which is separate from being on the waitlist) so just a bit frustrating especially considering it’s all AI-driven so I would guess it shouldn’t take long to get through a high volume of people.
I read through some of the other reviews and learned that you get charged $15 for your first match and also are not able to communicate with them at all beforehand so just felt kinda blindsided by those two things.

Worse than any other dating app that you have tried before.
It is worse than any other dating app. I tried this app with the hope that it would be a different experience, but it is not. The AI interview is so annoying, and the questions don’t reflect what values you are looking for. It is very superficial. Additionally, you can’t see your profile. My first match showed me my profile, and the information is very basic and doesn’t say anything about me. Secondly, the app doesn’t filter someone with your values, and the number of matches is very low. I understand that they try to reduce the draining experience of endless swiping, but the matches that it provides are nothing that I’m looking for, and it is not enough to even try to delete other options like Hinge. Your AI algorithm is not good.

The fact that I have to invite friends to the app to get reviewed is outrageous. I DONT have any single friends and pretty sure their wives would not like them signing up for a dating app. Lame app.
First Date
Such a refreshing change from the usual dating apps! I was honestly getting tired of endless swiping that never seemed to go anywhere. Known made it so much easier to show who I really am and what I’m looking for. The AI matching was actually way better than I expected, and my first match turned into a really fun date with someone I genuinely clicked with. It feels like the app focuses on real connections instead of just collecting matches. Excited to keep using it and see where it takes me!

There's Hope For the Dating Apps
I've never been much for any of the typical dating apps but decided to give Known a try out of curiosity and it's been a completely different experience. I've felt the focus has been more on quality rather than quantity. I've been on some great dates so far with genuine people who were clearly there for the same reason I was. There's been less emphasis on how someone presents themselves virtually and more on how the chemistry is between you and the person sitting across from you.
If you're open and serious about going on actual dates this app is for you.
The Known team is also great. They're very responsive and I've loved seeing all the great updates since the app went live.

Bad idea
I was intrigued my known and I liked the initial interview call, but I hate that you have to send 3 invites to be considered. I sent an additional 3 to be "priority" but still no matches (and i selected several bay area locations where presumably the app has already launched). Then I found out if you get a match you cant even see their picture and you have to pay $15 up front. I am not paying $15 to go out with someone I have never seen before... If your date doesnt show up (which several other reviews mentioned) you only get a credit, not a refund, and who knows when you will get your next match! The only way to avoid paying is to invite an additional three people. Ummm how many single friends do you expect us to have?? Who live in areas with access to the app and are interested in an AI matchmaker. So silly. This app is asking too much too soon of its users. At this stage in development, your payment is our free data. On top of that we are required to share with 3+ people to actually be able to use the app, another form of payment in exchange for use. On top of that you have to pay for dates! That's just greedy. Ick!
