What's New in Kobu

2.8

October 15, 2026

Kobu 2.8 is our biggest update yet. KOBU MAKES A CALL • Kobu now tells you what to do today, based on your readiness, training load and which muscles are still recovering. • Tap Kobu to see why, then train as planned, go lighter, rest, or do something else. PLAN SMARTER • Programmes: run your routine as a block of weeks, with training, deload and rest weeks. • Deload on demand: make any week a deload week at the percentage you choose. • Plan lifts as a percentage of your 1RM or training max, run 5/3/1, and set a target RPE. • Planned warm-up sets that build up to the day's weight. • Up to three alternatives for each exercise in a routine, for when the bench is taken. • Name, duplicate and rename routines, and undo a delete. • Save changes from a workout back to your routine. • See which muscles a workout or routine trains, and which ones it misses. IN THE GYM • Focus view, exercise chips, and finished exercises fold away. • Named supersets with their own rest, and a choice of rest-end sounds. • Plate math from your own plates, bars and dumbbell rack, with tap-to-load plate chips. • Back-off sets, per-dumbbell loading, and treadmill speed and incline. • Assisted pull-up, chin-up and dip machines now count less help as progress. • Log or skip a set from the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island. • Rests up to 10 minutes, and your music dips for the rest sound. AFTER YOUR WORKOUT • A new session record with PRs, highlights and share images. • Export to Garmin (.fit), or copy a workout as text. • Seven 1RM formulas, a 1RM calculator, and a progress chart for each set. • A new effort card in Trends. TODAY • This week shows your training time, sessions, weight lifted and distance. • Today's tiles open right where you are, with no jump to Training. • One sheet to start any workout, cardio or quick session. • Body weight on Today, and swipe between Body card modes. • A nudge when you miss a session, with "Do it today". LIBRARY & DATA • Over 2,100 exercises, now including stretching, mobility, yoga and Pilates. • Favourites, more forgiving search, and smarter swaps. • Add a GIF or video to your own exercises. • Automatic backups (the last 14 are kept), and import from Hevy. • Fix exercise names that came in with an import. • Choose your accent colour, and show weights to two decimals. FIXES • Readiness updates as soon as last night's sleep arrives. • Fixed crashes when opening the Apple Watch app during a workout. • Workouts started on iPhone now always appear on the watch. • Freestyle no longer asks you to finish after every exercise. • A finished workout no longer replaces another one logged on the same day. • The Dynamic Island timer no longer stretches the island.
