About

Kumofuton is a sleep sound app built around one promise: nothing should get in the way of your sleep. I made it after my newborn son cried through his nights and a little white noise speaker got us through. Now I fall asleep to it myself, and turn it on when I need to focus. • All 27 sounds are free. No ads, no sign-up • Keeps playing with your screen off • Long, seamless loops, so the sound never starts over and wakes anyone • The wake-up alarm rings through Silent mode and Focus on iOS 26 and later FOR A BABY, FOR YOU, FOR FOCUS • Settling a baby: white noise, a kitchen fan, the womb or rain; with Plus, it plays all night. Keep the volume low and the phone away from the baby • Your own sleep: rain, waves or a fire, with a timer that stops it gently if you like • Focus: steady sound to soften the room while you study or work SOUNDS Rain, rain on a tin roof, morning drizzle, thunderstorm, heavy thunderstorm, evening thunderstorm, waves, winter sea, tropical island waves, gentle beach waves, waves on the Seto Inland Sea, stream, fireplace, campfire, night insects, night insects in Nagano, frog chorus, forest morning, and wind, plus white, pink, and brown noise. And sounds of home: a kitchen fan, an air conditioner, a washing machine, a hair dryer, and the womb. The recordings are CC0 (public domain) field recordings shared on Freesound. Each sound shows its source, and the place and date when the recordist gave them. The kitchen fan, air conditioner, washing machine and hair dryer were generated with Adobe Firefly; the noises and the womb sound are generated by Kumofuton. FEATURES • Layer up to two more sounds, each with its own volume • Sleep timer: up to 15 minutes free. Longer nights, to 11 hours 59 minutes, or no timer at all need Plus • Wake-up alarm: wake to any sound you like. More than one alarm needs Plus. On iOS 26 and later it rings through Silent mode and Focus. On earlier iOS it arrives as a notification instead: once, for up to 30 seconds, and silenced by Silent mode and Focus • A gentle fade-out at the end • Keep music or radio from other apps playing, if you like • Works offline • Light and dark appearance, following your device or set by you • In English, Japanese, Korean, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, French, German, and Arabic PRICING Every sound is free. So are layering sounds, a sleep timer up to 15 minutes, and a wake-up alarm (one) with any sound. Kumofuton Plus is a one-time purchase. It adds the sleep timer past 15 minutes, playing with no timer at all, and keeping more than one alarm. It is not a subscription and nothing is ever charged automatically. RECORDING REQUESTS Tell us which sounds and places you'd like to hear, right from the app's settings. We review every request and consider recording the most requested sounds on location, mainly in Japan. Anything we add will be free too. PRIVACY Kumofuton collects no data. Your settings stay on your device.

What's New in Kumofuton

1.2.2

October 4, 2026

Five sounds of home. A kitchen fan, an air conditioner, a washing machine, a hair dryer, and the womb: the sounds parents reach for to settle a baby. Change the sound from the Lock Screen. The previous and next buttons step through the sounds without opening the app. Plus small improvements.
