Doesn’t work 20% of the time
Recently when I’ve been using it, I get a message that shows “Please try later” and now news populates. Happens a few times a week. I just have to wait a few hours and try again. Restarting the app doesn’t help.
Not great
Beware— I got the yearly subscription and barely used it because the journalism is subpar and the content generated just isn’t great. If you do get the subscription, however, you’ll want to cancel your subscription immediately—otherwise they will auto-charge you a year from the date that you first started for another year. No updates or warnings that you were about to get charged.

Irrelevant
Stopped using for Dodger news a while ago. Not paying for biased regular news reporting. Now they’re charging for playing free mini crossword game so just deleted this trash. Get a clue LA Times.
Poor execution
The ‘home’ screens and tabs leave out a significant number of articles and keep very old articles up for a long time.
The enewspaper screen displays all articles like a traditional paper(mostly simple text), but often formatted poorly. Like an afterthought.
Shared links from the enewspaper don’t carry the LATimes name or branding.
Compared to any other newspaper’s app, this is far behind.

Nonfunctional
For a number of years my wife and I have read the LA Times digital via the app. However, lately using the latest version, the articles headlines appear, yet when you attempt to open any article, the app freezes. I use an iPhone 15 pro with updated OIS. And there don’t appear to be any fixes available at the App Store.

perfect app for a newspaper!
clean, beautiful ui, easy to use, clear font, not laggy at all. a modern experience to the classic newspaper!
Republican propaganda
Garbage news. GOP propaganda. Terrible how they’ve destroyed this paper. I regret my $1 subscription.
Works ok
Works ok. A clear bug is found in the games section. If you pick a specific level of hardness in sudoku, you can’t leave that level and work on a different level of the same type of game.
Can’t open articles
I’m still unable to open individual articles from the eNewspaper. It works from a browser. The app is pointless without this feature.
Pay wall
All games require a subscription. Deleted the app. $16 a month is grossly overpriced and not a good model.
Sunday paper
I subscribed to get the Sunday paper delivered but guess I’m getting daily digital too & paying a little than I thought just for Sunday edition. When I contacted customer service to ask about charges was told I don’t have an account. How odd. Today’s email from subscription services said they weren’t able to charge my card. Guess if they get too wonky I will cancel

Paywalled games
Is there any particular reason why Google play users get full access to the games, but apple users have to pay for a full priced subscription?
Crosswords
Cool
App Doesn’t Work On My iPhone
Times app doesn’t work on my iPhone. I can’t tap and read articles. I don’t know what the problem is. I have complained to the LA. Times tech support numerous times but the problem has never been resolved.
Delete downloaded papers
How does one go about deleting papers that have been downloaded? I don’t see any option anywhere for doing this.
Yesterday’s news
The online edition is a joke. Today’s top news story is a 2-day old story. They just reshuffle articles that have been published for days. Im switching to The Washington Post.
Hate the “streaming now”
At the top of the home page. PLEASE design a way to opt out of that. If I’m playing something else, this app interrupts that. I’ve also never wanted to watch this “premium content.” Please please please remove it from the top of the home page.
Soon-Shiong Propaganda Machine
Whatever history this might have had, it’s just a propaganda outlet for the guy who bought it out. Way too many incidents of him interfering to trust the publication anymore.
LA Times is terrible for news
I get up in the morning to read the online news and it’s the same articles as the day before. What a waste of what was once a solid “news” source.
You’ll be a subscriber, guaranteed!
When it comes to a subscription charge I am unaware of, initially I thought maybe I did click or buy something or a trial I forgot about. Granted did not have the app, and upon extensive attempts and searches through my various accounts, none of which were registered or at best prompted incessantly to upgrade to a paid subscription; I couldn’t even call or reach a support line to request help accessing this $16/Week service, initiated at 4am on Christmas Day… Dead links to support site, No phone number leading to anyone. I would have settled for an automated service. Thanks to my bank, they discovered I had been charged more than I was aware of. After the FIRST forced stop payment and reconciliation of my balances, I thought it was a scam and over. Two weeks later, Again. New credit card and the week and a half it took to replace. Same issue. I hadn’t even used the card, let alone their site. But even after all the opt outs buried deep within their labyrinth of a website, my bank insisted they be permanently disabled as a vendor from my accounts. That, is what it takes to never be provided support if you lose a username or password you never had, or be provided a receipt or invoice for the transaction, or an email of any of it taking place, but yet could t look me up by payment either because Nobody, is, home. LA Times, I would rather read a Ketchup bottle, than ever give you my business, I am only glad I went through this before my first article or support member ever got to even thank me for my subscription, if you do find a record of it, it will be the best investigative reporting you’ve ever done.
