About

LabOptique is a virtual lab to explore and understand light interference, from high school to undergraduate physics. Investigate many aspects of light interference: from the notion of path difference up to the effects of a glass plate and the concept of coherence length, in a variety of situations — Young's holes or slits (infinitely thin or wide), freely movable sources to recreate a Michelson setup, a diffraction grating, Lloyd's mirror, with a monochromatic source or in white light. What you can explore: • Young's holes and slits (thin or wide) • Path difference and interference order • Diffraction grating • Lloyd's mirror (phase shift on reflection) • Glass plate (refractive index, thickness) • Coherence length and wave trains • Monochromatic or white light (channeled spectrum) • 3D view of the interference surfaces Everything is interactive and real-time: move the sources and point M, watch the interference pattern, the signal and the spectrum. Bilingual app (French / English), works offline.
