Amazing situational language practice - immerse yourself instead of practicing flash cards!

I’ve tried a number of language-learning apps, and Cipher stands out because it feels genuinely designed around using a language in the real world, rather than just memorizing vocabulary or learning sentence structure.

The vocabulary screen is incredibly useful, especially the travel cheat sheet. If you’re heading to a new country and want to quickly learn the basics you’ll actually need to get around, order food, ask questions, or navigate everyday interactions, it gives you a really practical starting point - this was such a good reference for me when I recently travelled abroad to France.

The situational missions are probably my favorite feature. Instead of practicing random phrases in isolation, you’re working through scenarios you could realistically encounter while traveling or living somewhere new. It feels much more like training yourself to actually immerse in a language than simply completing language lessons.

Another key point is the convo practice, as it feels surprisingly similar to having a private language tutor, but without the pressure or embarrassment that can come with practicing a language you’re still learning. You can make mistakes, work through what you’re trying to say, and build confidence before having those conversations in real life.

Overall, Cipher feels less focused on “learning a language” as an academic exercise and more focused on helping you actually speak and use it.
