Wow, this is amazing!

I was a bit sceptical but thought I’d give it a go…I’m so happy I did. This is the best app of this kind that I’ve tried. Way smoother than Language Reactor or any other alternatives…! I’m starting to learn Chinese again after a long break and this is app is definitely going to be a staple in my daily practice.

It’s nice to be able to watch Chinese content graded by levels without feeling overwhelmed by technical issues. Thank you so much for creating this app! I will be upgrading to the lifetime version soon :)

Must have for language learning

Superb tool to learn languages using automatically subtitled video and analyzed text!! 超级好

Traditional Chinese Required

Please could you add an option for traditional Chinese?

Great

Never met anything better, super helpful! Love you guys!

Really good

I have been recently using this everyday. Really useful for learning Chinese. There are some parts of the site that could do with refining but still a five star. I paid for a life time membership, definitely worth it.

Miss dinh

Very impressive app smooth video play back. How ever when watching a videos with multi subtitles one cannot choose the right subtitle for the video being played.
For example I am watch a YouTube video, in this video there are 4 subtitles
1) simplified Chinese
2) traditional Chinese
3) English Chinese and pinyin.
The app decides sub 3) is to be displayed and there is nothing I can do to change this!
An option to save phrases instead of words would be invaluable.

Deceptive purchasing practice impact a great service

This app uses a deceptive, dark pattern purchasing method. If you choose ‘go pro’ at the top to view pricing, it immediately launches a purchase request. Before you can even read the benefits of pro, it’s trying to quickly surprise you into spending $90. I love Chinese Zero to Hero (the best online learning program), but this is not good practice and should be modified.

You can apply for a refund from Apple by following these steps: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204084 I coded the purchasing logic a long time ago mostly to meet Apple's requirement, since very few users choose to purchase it through the app (so far only three did so). It used to be that the user had to press another button to confirm the purchase, but that design got rejected by Apple. The current design was finally approved. I'll see if I can make some adjustment without getting the app rejected. After all, the existence of this App is just to provide another convenient way to access the product.

Can’t sign up

Not being able to sign up is pretty annoying since that’s the only way to use the app. What’s equally annoying is that the sign up I already use for the courses I’ve already paid for is not accepted.

Hi Addohm, thank you so much for trying out and reviewing our app, and thanks for buying the Chinese Zero to Hero courses. I'm sorry to hear you have difficulty creating an account. We've just polished our 'password retrieval' feature on our website - you may be able to reset your password there. Please don't hesitate to send me an email jon@chinesezerotohero.com along with a screen recording so I can better identify the login problem and give you more personalized assistance.

A must-have in a language learners toolkit

I wish I had this app when I was learning Mandarin. And will definitely be using it as I start learning Korean (and any other language, for that matter).

Finding authentic videos, movies, and shows to practice real Mandarin Chinese with is incredibly difficult. Zero to Hero compiles, transcribes, translates, and even provides pin-yin & Chinese characters so you can learn Mandarin from real native materials.

And you can do this with their many supported languages! It’s incredible - and it’s free.

They are truly revolutionizing language learning and helping many. Even though this has just launched, it is incredibly polished and has earned itself a spot on my “must-have” toolkit for language learning. Highly recommend!
