EDIT: Since my review they’ve hiked up their prices on website and removed everything from the Apple EBook store! You can’t make it up how terrible this company is! There’s still evidence on other sites that they’re not worth 100$ but they’ll probably remove those too! Use the Wayback machine and make your decision if these people are worth giving your money to!

Thank you for your feedback and for bringing this to our attention; due to a glitch on Apple some of the prices were temporarily showing incorrectly. We are currently rectifying this with Apple. The prices on the other platforms where our Michel Thomas Method products are sold are (and always have been) in line with the prices on our website and app. While collection courses can exceed $100 due to their extensive content, individual courses start at $50. Popular collections cover beginner to advanced levels and take over 100 hours to complete. Our app follows the Michel Thomas Method, focusing on oral practice to build language skills. The price reflects the expertise of our teachers and the effectiveness of the content along with the cost that goes behind producing high quality lessons for our valued customers. You can access a free trial of any of our courses which does not require any commitment or card details and is not time limited. Bring back the old app that worked perfectly.
Basic problem and I can’t understand how the developers did not notice if they bothered to test the App before releasing it.

The app doesn’t do the basic part well enough
But the basic part of the app is poor. It doesn’t consistently play the recordings in the right order. In every 15 min session the app will skip ahead and you have no idea how much you’ve missed. It’s such a faff having to restart the session and find the parts you’ve missed. I really wouldn’t mind if this happened now again but it often occurs 2 or 3 times in each 15 min session.
It totally ruins the experience.
Better than the owl!
At the onset of using the app, it asks you to select why you wanna learn the language(s) that you chose and I think that helps put things in a certain frame, it helps contextualise and bring meaning to your learning journey.
As someone with an uneven, non traditional work (and therefore life) schedule.. I find very unrealistic to be expected to keep up a “streak” that is daily, like most apps ask you to.. and it puts so much pressure.. and whilst that may seem to degamify the learning process, it certainly is an improvement and makes accountability feel like it should instead of like a chore.
There is also a section which asks you to set how much time you want to spend on that session.. and just wow.. chef’s kiss really! It allows you to set aside an exact number of minutes to just concentrate on learning and nothing else.. truly wonderful! Most apps divide by section or themes instead of allowing you to pick how long you have to spend on it today.

shame can’t switch between OS
Shame there is some nice addition in that new app, nothing amazing though but time saving, it’s nice to actually be able to see the list of words and sentences, the flash cards are a nice addition, it would be greater if there were more options, like speech recognition instead of simple recording, type-in answers and multiple choice type, the player that let the user fidget with the cubes and circles is nice touch
